I’ve been crocheting for about a year, and started learning how to knit after joining the society this academic year. The Knitting Society creates such a friendly and relaxing space for people to come together and knit, whether you knew how to or is a beginner. I am keen to support this by ensuring the budgets and spendings for events are appropriate and make sure that spending is properly authorized through the Students' Union. I’m a very organized person and enjoy keeping things running smoothly by paying attention to the details. By taking on the position of treasurer, I hope to help the society run its activities efficiently so that members can focus on enjoying knitting, learning new skills, and building a welcoming community.
I've only been knitting since last September, but I want to give back to KnitSoc by becoming a committee member and helping the society grow. I'm running for treasurer as I'm experienced at managing funds and budgeting, having organised charity fundraisers in high school (and living in an expensive city like London). I'm also open to suggestions for snacks, so please give me recommendations on what to spend on! Communication, both within the committee and with the SU, is a skill I'll bring to the post, and I enjoy working in a team to organise events and supplies. I'm adept at keeping records, as a self-proclaimed Google Sheets warrior, and will make sure that all spending is accounted for. As someone who was a beginner until quite recently, I know that being taught with patience and care is essential to develop a hobby. By teaching, I aim to give the same level of care to new members of the society the same way the current committee did for me last year. I'll help keep track of orders for projects while working on your creations, and make sure that everyone has yarn and supplies (and that we can afford them)!
Hi! I’m Phoenix and I’ve been knitting since I was 7 and learnt basic crochet when I was 15. I’m pretty much always knitting, even in lectures! As well as being on the committee as Equipment Officer this last term, I have been teaching many friends and family members how to knit for years, so I have plenty of experience with it.
I have a methodical approach to financial management including making sure to carefully track my personal finances - a skill I would bring over if I were in the role of Treasurer. I would love to be able to work with the KnitSoc committee to make sure there is a fair and thorough use of finances to make the best impact.
Hello! My name is Lara and I'm running to be the next treasurer for Knit Soc. Knit Soc was the first society event I went too in first year and has been such a great way for me to manage my hobby alongside my studies! I'm a second year Law Student, which means I've got a very fine eye so you can trust me to look after our finances.
Why you should vote for me?
- Experience handling cash and reconciling takings - I work retail :(
- Previous volunteering for the Camden Youth Council - organising finances to help organise team events and fundraisers
What are my aims?
- Make Knit Soc more affordable - knitting/crochet is expensive :(
- Potentially subsidised wool hauls - working with the charity officer
- Bigger and better events next year - more social and workshops (for both beginner and more advanced levels!)
If you want a treasurer who keeps finances clean and makes sure membership money is going further you should vote for me 🧶
Hi everyone! I’m Naomi and I’m running for Treasurer.
I only joined the society this year, but I’ve really enjoyed being part of it, particularly the themed workshops and snack & stitch socials :)
I also enjoy organising things. I’ve helped run a few Winter Market stalls by managing their budgets and working with my school’s finance team, so I’d love to bring those skills to this role by helping with budgets, organising yarn and project orders, and keeping the finance side of things running smoothly.
Please vote for me!
I would like to be a Treasurer because I care about the knitting community and the relaxation this society can bring for people. As an economics student, I have a good understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and responsible resource allocation. I can be comfortable working with numbers, tracking spending, and thinking strategically about how to make the most of limited funds and I think these skills are directly useful to helping our society function well on our budget.
Beyond the numbers, knitting is a nice hobby, but also creative outlet that brings people together and lets you unwind. I want to help grow that space for everyone, whether through quality materials, or fun events that encourage new members to join.
I’m also a reliable and organised person, and if I was elected, I would strive to help the society keep to the budget while maximising the activities we can do with it. I’d be really happy to contribute my skills and enthusiasm to help the knitting society thrive.
I joined the society at the start of the year and learned how to knit through the weekly workshops, thanks to the patience and encouragement of the committee members. What I enjoy most about the society is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, whether it’s the relaxed weekly sessions or the fun collaborations with other societies and charities. It’s a really lovely space to learn something new and meet people.
Knitting is something I came to enjoy because others took the time to teach me, and I would love to help the society continue sharing that experience with new members.
As a maths student, I’m very comfortable working with numbers and staying organised. Managing weekly coursework deadlines has helped me develop strong time-management skills, so I’m confident I can keep track of budgets, forms, and deadlines reliably as Treasurer. I’d really enjoy supporting the society behind the scenes so it can continue running the cosy and inviting events and workshops that made me want to join in the first place.
