Rachel Weller

Hi everyone! I'm Rachel Weller, and I’d love to be your next JSoc Treasurer. Having chaired NLCS JSoc and served as Head of Charity, I have the experience and commitment needed to run a successful society. I am very organised and a dedicated team player. I'm eager to bring that energy and my deep-rooted commitment to the Jewish community to the UCL committee, ensuring our society remains a vibrant, well-funded 'home away from home'.

As a Management Science student, I’m uniquely equipped for the technical demands of budgeting and expenditure. I am equally well-placed to secure sponsorships and coordinate reimbursements, having already built relationships with 20+ London Jewish organisations in my role at NLCS. I am also eager to take on the broader leadership responsibilities of this role, helping to steer the society's strategic growth and representing JSoc to UCL, drawing on my experience leading the Jewish student community in a secular environment post-October 7th.

I believe a great Treasurer must represent the entire community. Being equally at home in both frum and secular circles allows me to understand our members' diverse needs and ensure our finances support inclusive, accessible-to-all, and high-quality programming. I would specifically love to expand JSoc’s charitable impact through new fundraising and volunteering projects.

I look forward to the opportunity to represent you and make next year a success. Thank you!

Asher Nagler

Hi, I’m Asher, a 1st Year Computer Science Undergraduate and I want to be your treasurer.

I have keenly attended every lunch and learn so far this year and helped put up the sukkah and chanukiah on campus. This JSOC is my community, and I want to give back. As a student in a maths-heavy course with a love of excel spreadsheets, I can be relied on to keep the books balanced.

But why should you vote for me? What do I stand for?

Leadership: I can bring leadership experience and organisational skills from prior experience leading youth groups, as well as a strong work ethic.

Availability: I will respond to messages promptly and will do my best to make sure any complaint raised is resolved.

Events: I am full of ideas for new events and will work hard to ensure any event proposals you have are heard and brought to life where possible.

Collaboration: I want to work more with other UCL societies to promote interfaith relations as well as enriching our JSOC experience while sharing our Jewish values with the wider UCL community.

Community Ties: I aim to engage more with local organisations and the thriving London Jewish community by working with synagogues to organise youth events and help tap into the wonderful Jewish scene beyond university.

Charity: I will increase our work with charities to create a thriving community of givers, as well as bringing in speakers to increase awareness of the important issues these charities engage with.

Feel free to drop me a message with any questions! :D
