Japan Society: President

Hi! I'm Kurara, I am running for President of Japan Society!

After joining, seeing how many people are interested in Japanese culture made me really happy, and it motivated me to contribute more. As someone from Japan, I also value having a space where Japanese culture can be shared, while ensuring that all members feel connected within the society.

My goal is to make the society a space that is not only engaging, but also brings people together.

While cultural events are an important part of the society, I believe there is an opportunity to create more community-focused experiences, where ALL members can engage.

 While keeping high-quality cultural events, language lessons, & partnerships with brands,

 I aim to introduce:

• casual language exchange, or conversation-based socials 

• collaborative activities where people can participate together

  I would also introduce a monthly suggestion box(on instagram story, give it a follow!) to better understand members’ interests.

This would help ensure that the society is not only a place to learn about Japan, but also a place where people can build friendships and feel a sense of belonging. 

I enjoy communicating with people and taking on leadership roles and am confident in working with others to create a welcoming environment. I am approachable & committed, plus through sub-committee, I have gained insight into how the society operates.
