Nona Jolly Jones

As Mentorship Officer, my focus would be on ensuring that members who are new to finance feel supported while developing the technical skills and confidence needed to gain experience such as Spring Weeekks. From my own experience learning about markets and investment analysis and applying for these programs myslef, I understand how valuable early guidance and structured support can be. Having gained 8 Spring Week offers I believe I am in the position to now share my knowledge as Mentorship Officer.

If elected, I would continue with mentor–mentee pairings so newer members can regularly connect with more experienced students for advice and guidance. I would also introduce small-group workshops covering core concepts such as valuation, market analysis and investment frameworks, helping members build a stronger foundation.

Alongside this, I would work with analysts and senior members to create a clearer pathway for those who want to deepen their involvement in the Society, whether through research, competitions or analyst roles. My aim would be to help build a culture where members support each other’s development and feel confident contributing their ideas.

As mentorship exec this year, working with the mentorship team, I've seen how the system runs, so I know what works well and what can be improved. Speaking on panels throughout the year, I understand both sides of the process - what applicants are stressed about and what mentors should be helping with. As VP I'd focus on:

  • Clearer communication between mentors and mentees
  • More consistent events across the year
  • Making mentorship actually useful as opposed to just a name for the system

I want the mentorship programme to be something people genuinely rely on during the Internship season, not something they forget exists
