I am standing for continuity in the branding, marketing, and social media of the International Relations Society. Currently, this year's Social Media Officer I want to ensure that we as a society remain consistent and that our members and new members are able to recognise our society and its brand across the international relations space at UCL. I am heavily experienced in the role and proven myself reliable for the society.
What skills do I bring?
- Experienced in the use of Canva, Adobe Products, and Affinity
- Timely and punctual meeting deadlines to create social media graphics and market them
- Available 24/7 for other committee members to consult on marketing and graphic design for their events
- Friendly, approachable, and helpful
What have my achievements been so far?
- Rebranded the London University Diplomatic Summit (LUDS) with a new logo, brand style, colours, and typography during UCL's controlling year (2026) receiving wide praise and upgrading the status of the event. Working hard to create templates and a consistent feel across the whole instagram.
- Produced many eye-catching, aesthetically designed graphics to market events with clear information for the committee to show to our members.
- Posted consistently, replying to comments and messages, monitoring our email and social media and notifying the leadership team.
Vote me as Social Media Officer to continue with consistent, professional branding and aesthetically pleasing marketing and graphics.
I’m standing for Social Media Officer because I believe the International Relations Society represents one of the most internationally minded communities at UCL, and our online presence should reflect that energy and ambition!
Growing up in Hong Kong and now studying in London has instilled in me the importance of inclusive discussion. Surrounded by different cultures and political perspectives, I’ve learned the value of diverse viewpoints in shaping change. I want our social media to reflect UCL’s multicultural community by highlighting underreported global issues in engaging, accessible ways. Beyond politics, competing in international art competitions developed strong visual design skills that I will use to create cohesive, eye-catching posts. Clean layouts, graphics, and consistent branding will ensure promotions for high-profile speakers, embassy visits, and society events feel professional and reflect the prestige of our society.
I’ve gained communications experience creating content for Hong Kong charities The Zubin Foundation and The SENsational Foundation, designing posts and editing YouTube videos to maximise engagement. Writing for The Diplomacy Review and the International Public Policy Review has trained me to break down complex political issues clearly and concisely.
These skills will help to create interactive polls and Q&As to boost engagement, as well as informative reels for embassy visits or the UN Global Peace Summit, making key takeaways accessible to all.
I want to be part of the IR Society committee because it represents a space where global issues are not just studied, but actively discussed and debated. As someone deeply interested in international politics, studying politics, and aspiring to be work in the international relations field in the future, I value environments that encourage critical thinking and diverse perspectives with insightful events. Being on the committee would allow me to contribute to shaping those conversations while helping strengthen a community of students who are engaged with world affairs, just as I am.
As Social Media Officer, I would focus on making the society’s presence dynamic, consistent, and intellectually engaging. Social media should not only promote events, but also extend their impact through policy explainers, event highlights, interactive polls, and accessible breakdowns of complex global issues. I would aim to create visually clear and informative content that reflects the society’s academic focus while remaining approachable. Social media platforms are the number 1 source for where members get their information, and I want to help the society grow and increase engagement as a social media officer.
I am organised, creative, and attentive to detail, which are essential for maintaining a professional and cohesive online identity. With regular posting and strategic communication, I would work to attract members and ensure the society’s work reaches a wider audience.
