Through my work researching geopolitical developments and writing on international affairs, I’ve developed a strong interest in creating platforms where students can engage critically with global issues. Alongside my research internship with Autran Group, where I analysed geopolitical developments and their impact on business environments, I am also currently involved as an editor for Circum Mundum and a writer for The Diplomacy Review.

These experiences have shown me how valuable student-led publications are for encouraging thoughtful discussion on international politics and giving students the opportunity to contribute their own perspectives.

As Vice President, I would aim to support the continued growth of Circum Mundum by helping recruit and mentor new writers, expanding the range of topics and perspectives represented in the journal, and strengthening its role as a platform for serious student engagement with global affairs.

With a pluricultural background (being of Swiss, Italian, Greek origin yet growing up in the Middle East) combined with a strong passion for global affairs through my degree in Global Humanitarian Studies, I therefore would love to stand for the role of Circum Mundum Vice-President. Circum Mundum offers a vital platform (particularly in the current political climate) for thoughtful student engagement with global politics, and I would be honored to help strengthen and shape its voice within the International Relations Society. I believe I am well suited to this role as I combine strong organisational skills with a genuine enthusiasm for collaborative editorial work. I have previously overseen editorial projects and contributed to several journals during my schooling in the UAE, experiences that developed both my strength and passion for student journalism and my ability to work within various teams. Organisation is something that comes naturally to me; (me and my Google Calendar against the world!), having previously trained as a professional ballet dancer while balancing academic studies and multiple extracurricular commitments, I have developed strong discipline, time management, and attention to detail, all of which I would bring to this role. Additionally, I am particularly interested in supporting the development of the Circum Mundum podcast as another avenue for engaging with international affairs!

I believe that before we can be actors in the international arena, we must first be writers, speakers, and defenders of ideas. As students, our first responsibility is not just to study International Relations, but to immerse and establish our place within it. Circum Mundum has been the perfect outlet for this purpose. Over the past two terms as a writer for the journal, I begun developing both my analytical voice and my confidence as an aspiring actor within the field. The journal’s commitment to diverse perspectives and evidence‑based thinking is a testament to this, thanks to the structured yet accessible approach Grace has taken as Editor this year.

As Vice‑President, I aim to continue this legacy of free thought paired with considered analysis. I want to continue encouraging writers to engage deeply with contrasting viewpoints; challenging their assumptions and asking them to draw from conflicting sources to strengthen their arguments. The addition of the new podcast series expands this mission even further, offering a dynamic space for real‑time discussion, debate, and reflection. I hope to build on this by inviting new guests, especially reaching out to practitioners in the IR space, and creating opportunities for students to engage directly with global issues through conversation.

I am committed to supporting a society that empowers students to think critically, write boldly, and participate actively in international discourse.
