Lawrence Askar

I am running for President to build a more united UCLIS, one where undergraduates and postgraduates actively connect, exchange ideas, and grow together.

Being 12000km from home, I noticed first-hand how powerful our shared nationality and language are in creating meaningful bonds. The strongest connections I've made in my first year so far were with fellow Indonesians, and that sense of community made all the difference.

As President, my goal is to create a true home away from home, a space where every member feels included, supported, and comfortable, just like with family. Furthermore, I believe that everyone has potential, and seek to invest in each member's personal and professional growth, as well as physical and mental wellbeing.

To achieve this, I will:

  • Organise structured cross-year networking and social events to encourage meaningful conversations between undergraduates and postgraduates.
  • Create platforms where seniors can share academic guidance, career advice, and life insight with juniors.
  • Launch a family system so incoming students, undergraduate or postgraduate, have immediate support from day one.
  • Build a one-stop service to connect members with any support they may need.
  • Organise regular sports and social activities to promote physical and mental health, as well as a sense of community and belonging.

University can be challenging, but with the right community, no one should feel alone.

Together, we can make UCLIS more than just a student society, but a second home.

Halo semuanya!! My name is Russell and I am running for Indosoc President!! If you don’t know me, I major in Information Management for Business and I come from Bali. As much as I love yapping any time I can, I also love helping everyone have a good time!

If I was chosen to be president, I would love to be there for everyone and I will make it my utmost priority to make sure that you're happy and having fun at our events! And that means EVERYONE!! I'll make sure to make these events as inclusive as possible for anyone, no matter where you're from or how social you are, to be able to come and meet people like you!

I have experience in running events, as the vice president of my student council back home, and interning for FC Bali United as a marketing intern and event organizer. I have spent countless hours every night to make sure everyone has a blast no matter who they are.

I have great ideas that I'm willing to explore with all of you! May it be cooking workshops of your favorite recipes from back home, lomba2 for national holidays like hari sumpah pemuda, or elevating the ANNUAL BOAT PARTY, I will make sure that you (YES YOU) will love it!

So vote for your favorite bali boy as indosoc president!!

*or else I will give you bali belly >:(
