Hi! My name is Rachel. I’m a first-year studying the Arts and Sciences and I’m super thrilled to be running for the Events Director at UCL Indonesian Society!
Throughout high school, I joined a few non-profit organisations, which gave me lots of experience helping out with fundraising and educational events in different ways. Over time, I realised the part I enjoyed most was coming up with ideas that bring people together. I was also part of the Student Council, where I learned how to communicate across different divisions effectively and represent the wider student community. With that background, I’m excited to represent an even bigger (and better) community here at UCL :)
As for Indo Soc itself, I want it to become more than just a society, but a space where people feel comfortable showing up as themselves. As an Event Director, I’d love to run a mix of larger events and smaller regular hangouts; things like cafe and game evenings, karaoke, and cultural workshops so, there are options for different personalities and preferences. I also want to organise more collaborations with Indonesian societies across universities, such as sports days or joint dinners/potluck, so our community can connect beyond UCL and everyone gets the chance to meet new people.
Most importantly, I want members to feel heard, welcomed, and excited to come back. I’d be really grateful for the chance to serve as your Events Director and help create a year full of meaningful moments together!
Hi everyone!!! :) I’m Kaylee, a first-year Biomedical Engineering student. I’m running for Events Director because I love what a good event can do to a room, from those slightly awkward first few minutes to the moment when conversations start flowing and people forget to check the time. I’d love to help create more of those moments for our community
As a first-year, it can be a bit overwhelming settling into a new place, and having other Indonesians around really helped me feel at home. I’d love to help create that same welcoming environment for the undergraduates who will come next year.
I really enjoy working in a team, and I’ve met the best people through collaborating on projects, preparing for performances, and organizing initiatives together. Whether it was helping run donation drives during my time on the prefectorial board in high school, working with peers on the review process to review research submissions on a student platform I help run, or even handling group projects with tight deadlines, I’ve learnt how important communication is in a team. Through these experiences, I’ve learnt how much thought and coordination happens behind the scenes. I’m used to planning ahead and keeping track of details, which is exactly what goes into making a good event.
Since my name is Kaylee, I thought I’d make it easier to remember why you should vote for me:
