Indian Music Society: President

Having previously served as both Band Manager and Welfare Officer of the Indian Music Society, I’ve gained invaluable experience and insight into what makes this society so special. It has been an incredible space not only to develop musically, but also to build meaningful friendships and connect with some truly talented performers. Watching members grow in confidence and showcase their abilities has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey here.

If elected President, I want to build on this strong foundation while introducing fresh ideas that make the society even more inclusive and engaging. My vision is to create a welcoming environment not only for trained singers and experienced musicians, but also for complete beginners who simply have a passion for music and want to explore it.

To achieve this, I plan to:

• Organise regular events and open mic nights, giving members more opportunities to perform, experiment and build confidence in a supportive setting.
• Introduce more socials and games nights to strengthen welfare, bonding and the sense of community within the society.
• Arrange group trips to concerts and special musical performances so we can experience and celebrate music together beyond campus.

• Celebrate the diversity of Indian music by exploring a wide range of genres - from classical traditions such as Carnatic and Hindustani, to regional styles including Bollywood hits and South Indian music.
