My name is Vaidehi Jatia, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to represent UCL Indian Dance Society as one of the Marketing Officers.
Marketing Officers represent and create the brand of a society, building an aesthetic and reflecting their goals. I believe I can do this effectively.
I am suitable for this role because I bring both technical experience, social and organizational skills that directly resonate with the responsibilities as a Marketing Officer.
For 6 years I ran an instagram editing account that showed creative work, gathering more than 300k views. Further, I created promotional work for my high school on their instagram page filming content, interviewing people and editing to make videos. Through this I learned how to:
- Create a brand and image
- Understand trends
- Manage my time in posting regularly
- Collaborate with different people
I also have used after effects for 7 years, and use platforms such as:
- Photoshop
- Premier Pro
- Illustrator
- Procreate
- Canva
This year after the Rangeela the dance showcase, I made a lot of creative content around dance, creating posters and mixed media videos from the showcase that can be used as promotional material for future years.
Ideas:
- Informative videos and posts on traditional dance
- Opportunities to participate in online dance trends
- Making a video trailer for Naach promotions
-
To build community: What song next polls, teaching famous bollywood steps in 30 seconds on reels
And More ! I would truly value the opportunity to represent
Being both a dancer and a creative, I would love to contribute to the society not only through performing but also by helping promote and represent its events and community.
As an Architecture student, visual communication and design are central to my work. I regularly use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Canva to create clear and engaging graphics, and have developed strong skills in layout, branding and visual storytelling. I believe these skills would be valuable in creating promotional content for workshops, classes and showcases. I also have experience creating social media content for dance, as I previously helped organise and edit Instagram reels and posts for my dance school’s page.
Alongside dance, I enjoy playing the violin, drawing and painting, which have helped develop my artistic eye and creativity. I also enjoy spending time with friends and being part of social communities, which motivates me to help create engaging and welcoming content for the society.
I have been actively involved in UCL’s dance events, performing in Naach and Rangeela and attending workshops such as Kuthu and Bhangra. These experiences allowed me to connect with dancers across societies and see the impact of the society’s events first-hand. If selected, I would aim to create cohesive promotional content, increase engagement across social platforms, and help showcase the society to a wider audience.
