Hi! I’m Alex, and I am excited by the prospect of being elected as the Treasurer of our Society.
I have been the interim Treasurer for the last few weeks, and I have immensely enjoyed working with the committee and independently to organise events, and learning the intricacies of the society’s finances and management.
I also have a lot of experience running societies at school, having founded an Oratory Society and having been on the committee for my school’s History Society.
Given my experience and enthusiasm, I believe I am an excellent candidate.
Furthermore, I am highly numerate, having achieved Grade 9 in Maths at IGCSE. I have excellent attention to detail, as well as great people skills. I respond to messages quickly, which is crucial for being effective as a committee member. And, finally, I am excellent at organising events, so I will be able to help the committee with this key responsibility.
I would relish the opportunity to continue my work as Treasurer: organising events, including more academic talks, and keeping ticket prices down as much as reasonably possible.
So, I’d be very grateful for your vote!
All the best, Alex
Hi everyone! I’m Jake, a first-year History student.
I’m standing for Treasurer because I’d be keen to contribute to the running of the History Society and support the committee in organising events for members. I’m organised, reliable, and would aim to ensure the society’s finances are managed clearly and responsibly so events can run smoothly.
Thank you for reading! :)
I am applying for the role of Treasurer of the UCL History Society because I would like to contribute more actively to a community that has already been an important part of my university experience. Over the past year, I have seen how much effort goes into organising events, supporting members, and creating opportunities for students to engage with history beyond the classroom. Financial organisation is essential to making these activities possible, and I would value the opportunity to help ensure the society continues to run smoothly and effectively.
I am particularly interested in the Treasurer role because it requires responsibility, organisation, and clear communication. Managing budgets, tracking spending, and working closely with the rest of the committee are all key aspects of the position. Through my academic work in history, I have developed strong organisational and analytical skills, as well as the ability to manage deadlines and work methodically. I believe these skills would help me approach the society’s finances carefully and responsibly.
If elected, I would aim to manage the society’s funds transparently and efficiently so that the committee can continue organising engaging events for members. Ultimately, I would like to help support the society’s activities and contribute to maintaining the welcoming and active community that makes the History Society valuable to its members.
