Namah Satwah

My first year at UCL has been one of the best periods of my life, and I owe it all to HSoc. From the first social at Chaiiwala, where I met some of my closest friends, to Rangeela and DBall, where I discovered my hidden skills of dance. HSoc has introduced me to new opportunities and the most amazing people. It has shaped my university experience in incredible ways and I hope to make that experience possible for others through the role of VP.

To me, Hinduism was always about selflessness - doing everything I can to help others, and dharma - fulfilling one's responsibilities with integrity and care. And these values are what I’d carry forward as part of the committee. As an FYR this year, I’ve seen the amount of time and effort that goes into executing each event, whether that’s weekly sanskaar sessions or Garba. It has shown me how much responsibility, organisation, and commitment are required behind the scenes.

My experiences helping with marketing for Rangeela, fundraising for events including Seva Month, and communicating with external vendors have taught me how to communicate effectively with others, stay organised under pressure, and take initiative to help ensure events run smoothly. Demonstrating how guided by the principles of seva and dharma, being part of HSoc is a responsibility I am ready to take on.

HSoc is family to me, it has given me memories I’ll always be grateful for. It would be an honour to be your VP and give back to a society that has given me so much.

Niyati Patel

Being part of Hindu Soc since the start of uni, I have always felt the warmth and sense of family it brings. From the Welcome Mela to watching the insane Rangeela acts, every event has always created the atmosphere of belonging.

Hinduism to me is not only about the traditions but the feelings we create when celebrating together. Being an FYR has meant I have seen the pure commitment that goes into producing these fulfilling moments, and seeing the behind-the-scenes has only made me want to contribute further.

My previous marketing and finance roles, alongside experience with leading events means I can work in high pressure environments and to tight deadlines. By designing Seva month posts and executing Rangeela from backstage, I have shown I can handle the responsibility and initiative needed to execute each and every event.

Hindu values have always guided my way of life and HSoc has been the foundation to remain rooted in them. The weekly Seva has been one reason, giving me the chance to give back despite the hectic uni experience. As Vice President, it is exactly this that I want to continue. I am standing to continue to strengthen this already amazing community with my leadership, humility and dedication to ensure that every member finds the same feelings of belonging and community. Being your Vice President would be an absolute privilege, and you can make it happen.
