Hiking Club: Vice President

🏔️ Hi Hikers!

The VP plays a central role in developing and running the club, so I’m excited to run- hopefully using my skills and experience to benefit the club and its members.

Hiking has always been a constant in my life. From completing my DofE and hiking regularly, to teaching outdoor skills as a Sgt in the RAFAC, the outdoors has shaped who I am. It’s where I’ve felt most confident, and more importantly where I’ve loved helping others build that same confidence.

UCL Hiking is already a brilliant community. I hope to strengthen its foundations by investing in skills, leadership, safety, and community spirit:

🥾 Empowering Walk Leaders

• Oversee recruitment, act as main point of contact
• Create space to share advice and build confidence

🧭 Regular & specialist skills sessions

• Run core skills sessions (Navigation, WL Skills)
• Offer specialist sessions (Orienteering, Mountaineering)

🚑 Stronger health & safety systems

• Maintain clear first aid reporting systems
• Increase first aid training and therefore WL confidence

🌅 Building community

• Host presentation and networking events to share experiences
• Create opportunities for members to plan new adventures together

As Skills Officer this year, I’ve had the privilege of working with the committee- I understand the responsibility of shaping UCL Hiking’s direction. If elected VP, I’ll bring energy, organisation, and genuine commitment to making our club even stronger.
