I am applying because I would love to be on the Guild Society committee and given my past experiences, I am most suitable for this role.
In my sixth form I contacted external parties to secure sponsorship for large scale events worth over £30,000 in costs over the period of 2 academic terms.
Vote for me and I’ll make sure we get the sponsorship we need for the next year.
Hi, I’m Christina, a first-year Geography and Economics student at UCL. I enjoy exploring new experiences, from horse riding and boxing to learning guitar, and value community and teamwork. In high school. I was President of the Economics Society, the largest academic society in my school, where I organised weekly sessions and actively reached out to local businesses and sponsors to secure support. This taught me how clear communication and persistence can turn ideas into real funding that helps a society grow.
I’m running for Sponsorship VP of the Guild Society because I love the Guild’s mission of bringing students together through culture, creativity, and community. Strong sponsorship is key to running impactful initiatives, and I want to help raise funds that translate into meaningful events and opportunities for members. I’m also keen to build mutually beneficial relationships between societies and external partners.
If selected, I would build a proactive sponsorship strategy by researching and reaching out to aligned partners, local businesses, creative organisations, creating clear proposals that communicate sponsor value, maintaining long-term relationships, and working closely with the committee to turn funding into inclusive, high-impact events. Drawing on my fundraising experience, I balance professionalism with warmth and I’m confident I can strengthen the Guild’s sponsorship base to support diverse, exciting activities for members.
Your network is your net worth, and it can never be big enough, which is why I'm standing for VP of Sponsorship because I want to help our society secure more opportunities, funding, and partnerships for our members, so we can establish an even stronger career network.
My previous experience gives me a strong foundation for this role. As the former founder of a sustainable startup, I have substantial skills in pitching, relationship-building and working with external partners. I've also served as Youth MP, where I represented young people and built strong connections with key organisations and stakeholders. My job as a candidate generation consultant at a recruitment firm is also a testament to my ability to communicate professionally, identify potential partners and build productive relationships.
All of this I will utilise if elected to expand our sponsorship network, bring in more resources and opportunities for UCL Guild Society to help our society continue to grow.
Fun Fact: I'm a black belt in Taekwondo :)
As a first-year Economics student at UCL, I've been actively engaging with the finance community on campus. I have attended several events organised by societies within the Guild, which helped me understand how these partnerships work and how they create opportunities for students.
As an Equity Analyst at the UCL Investment Fund, I've analysed firms like BlackRock using a full DCF model. I also recently participated in a UK & Europe M&A Case Competition, where my team advised on Unilever's potential acquisition of an Indian D2C brand by building financial models. These experiences have helped me better understand how finance firms evaluate opportunities and how to present ideas clearly.
This week, I attended Millennium Management's Discover & Network Event, where I spoke with analysts, recruiters and former interns. Conversations like these helped me understand what firms actually look for from university societies, which is mainly access to motivated students and meaningful engagement.
Before coming to UCL, I was also a member of my school's student council, where I helped organise events and worked on securing sponsorships from external organisations. That gave me early exposure to reaching out to partners and coordinating with teams.
As VP of Sponsorship, I would use these experiences to help build and maintain partnerships with firms that genuinely benefit our members. I'm organised, proactive and motivated to help strengthen the Society's relationships with the industry.
