Alex Romanov

I am a very dedicated, empathetic individual who would be fully committed to completing the Welfare Officer programme, ensuring that I am equipped with the right tools to support you all. My background as a Senior Cadet Officer has taught me how to lead with empathy and take the initiative in communication, and would therefore make me ideal for this role.

I’ve got plenty of experience in planning large-scale events – as Deputy Head girl, I organised engaging and inclusive activities for peers. Therefore, I’m keen to apply the organisational skills to run inclusive well-being events, especially for key dates such as Mental Health Day. It is also vital to me that events, whether they are academic or social, are inclusive and open to everyone. My experiences in school and time in volunteering have taught me to actively listen to and advocate for diverse groups. Volunteering in the Cadet Force, as well as in school, has provided me with the skillset to adapt and create inclusive events to ensure every student feels included – whether you are a home or international student, there will be something for you.

I'm very passionate about everyone enjoying their time as a member of the Geographical Society, and helping people find what they might need and creating an inclusive space is incredibly important to me. I work with strong initiative and thrive as a team player, and would love to be a part of the inclusive, supportive Geographical Society next year.
