For the past two terms I've been one of this society's events officers. Working non-stop on everything from quizzes to pub crawls, side quest socials and cinema nights. I’m honoured to see communities form through my events and intend to run it back on this committee one last time.
Essentially, being the right hand man to our society’s principal officers has given me a wealth of experience in how a society should be run. I have always been in the room where it happens, understanding every process we know that occurs behind the scenes: budgeting, SU application and health and safety forms. I have formal correspondence with venues and gaming societies across London, from Sidequest to Meltdown and ICL to QMUL. I was particularly satisfied with my negotiations with Regent Street Cinema, causing the discounted showing of the FNAF 2 movie, attended by over 100 people.
This experience has guided my concrete plan for what comes next for the society: a repeated emphasis on introducing freshers, but continued events to throughout the second term, a point where I have seen the society take a break from level of commitment seen during the first term. Thus ensuring that the society can not only stay alive, but thrive as the year progresses. Working closely with our socials team to ensure you'll be back for our events.
For more info please meet me inside the AGM, or dm me @Ironwall on discord (apologies for delayed responses, I WILL be playing Slay the Spire 2)
Your Obedient Servant,
Theo.
Hey I'm Rish and I'm standing to be the next president of the UCL Gaming Society.
I'm currently a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student heading into 3rd year and I've been in the Gaming society for the last two years and have been the Valorant Admin for the last couple months!
I am running to be the next president of the UCL Gaming Society with a goal to further develop the community for both casual and competitive gamers. My aim is to focus on building strong teams to represent the University and Society in National University leagues as well as providing opportunities for new members to build new friendships through social events, LAN Parties, Watchparties along with other things. I also want to further bridge the gap between the mini-communities of the separate games being played within the society and encourage people to explore and try out new games.
Through this community, I was able to meet some of my closest friends and so my priority is to continue fostering a friendly and approachable community.
As president, I'd collaborate closely with my committee, through regular committee meetings as well as one sessions to ensure everyone is on the same page about the ins and outs of the society while also ensuring that everyone is held accountable for their roles within the committee. This will ensure we provide quality events to our community to give them the best experience with the UCL Gaming Society!
