For all of us, football is meant to be a distraction from life - an escape from whatever studies, work, or other commitments you might have. As welfare sec, I’d aim for the club to provide that support and be a place where people feel they can unwind, chat over a pint, and most importantly feel proud to be part of.
I am standing for Welfare Secretary because I care a lot about the culture and environment within the team, not just what happens on the pitch. Since joining the club I have really enjoyed being part of the squad, and I want to help make sure everyone has that same positive experience.
I am someone who naturally looks out for people around me. Whether it is within societies at UCL or in teams I have played in before, I have always valued making sure everyone feels included and supported. As captain of my school and club teams in the past, I learned that a good team is not just built on ability but on trust, communication and looking after one another. I would bring that same mindset to this role.
Balancing a degree at UCL alongside football and other commitments also means I understand the pressures that students can face during the year. I want to make sure players feel comfortable raising concerns, whether that is around wellbeing, team dynamics or anything else affecting their experience in the club.
For me, this role is about making sure the team remains a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and enjoys being part of the club. If elected, I would focus on making sure players feel heard, supported and genuinely part of the team.
