Hi everyone!! I’m running for Treasurer because I LOVE FILM SOC. I want to see it keep growing, creating, and staying a proper safe space for film lovers.
Here’s what I bring:
- I know the business — I’ve done the role before and understand how every department runs. I allocate budgets fairly, process reimbursements ASAP, and always try my best to get your money back quickly, so we can make funds work harder for creative outcomes.
- Jack of all trades — As a Management Science student, I’m comfy with maths and spreadsheets, but also with equipment and creatives. I produce films, do marketing, record sound, organise events, make merch, and know the film soc studio well. Always happy to jump in, lend a hand, or show you the ropes.
- I'm your reliable friend — I don’t leave things till last minute. No panic, calm mindset, best efficiency. If I commit to something, it gets done. You can trust me to make things happen.
- Always reachable — You’ll catch me online from 9am–2am. And yes, I reply in zero business days. If you’ve got questions or ideas, just drop me a message, I’ve got you!
Let’s build better events, more opportunities, and a stronger creative community together. Whether you’re here to watch film, review film, make film, or anything film-related, I want to help level up everyone’s experience at UCL Film Soc.
If you’re backing someone organised, reliable, and genuinely invested — I’d love your support!!
Cheers 🤝
Hi, I'm Talhah, a second-year undergraduate chemistry student, and I am nominating myself to be your next Treasurer of the UCL Film and TV Society.
Initially arriving at UCL, I mainly stayed within my degree cohort. That all changed the next year when I joined the society, since I was developing an interest in film through my brother's extensive film collection. I was presented with vast opportunities, from acting to producing, as well as being introduced to the incredibly diverse and welcoming community. No regrets at all!
Alongside my interests, I am involved in the logistical and organisational side of filmmaking. I am the finance producer for the upcoming term film Small Talk, where my responsibilities include creating budget plans, allocating resources effectively across multiple shoot days and coordinating with others to support the project's vision.
I aim to ensure the society's funds are managed responsibly so members feel confident in applying for funding and pursuing their projects. I would prioritise maintaining records of spending, supporting production teams on budgeting, and ensuring funds are allocated fairly and transparently. My goal is to ensure the project is financially feasible, whilst also maximising their creative ambitions.
Overall, this society has provided many great opportunities for me, and I would love to further provide opportunities for our aspiring filmmakers. I believe financial planning should enable creativity, not restrict it.
