I’m standing for Welfare Officer because women’s health spaces should feel safe, warm, and empowering, not intimidating! 🫶✨ I'm really passionate about women’s health + femtech, (planning to do MSc Women's Health), and I want the society to be a place where people can show up as they are, ask questions without feeling judged, and leave events feeling supported.
I was Welfare Officer for Genetics Society this year, so I have experience planning welfare-focused initiatives, building inclusive vibes at events, and signposting support when needed. If elected, I’d love to bring more cosy/community energy, host more chill socials, and make sure society culture stays kind + supportive.
Hi! My name is Muyan (or just call me Yan:), and I would love to be your 2026/27 WELFARE OFFICER!
Reasons why you should vote for me:
• I have completed the UCL Inclusive Education Training Programme, and I am committed to ensuring that our discussions around gender, health, and identity remain inclusive, thoughtful, and respectful.
• I have experience accessing and utilizing UCL wellbeing services, which enables me to better assist you if needed.
• I am genuinely committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment within a society that discusses deeply personal and sensitive aspects of women’s health.
• I believe representation matters, and I am committed to ensuring that every member’s voice is heard, respected, and represented within the Welfare & Community Zone.
If I get elected, I will
• pay particular attention to first-time attendees by ensuring there are welcoming spaces and opportunities for new members to comfortably engage in conversations, including small ice-breaker activities.
• work alongside the committee to ensure that our talks and discussions remain welcoming and accessible spaces for everyone.
• act as a bridge between members and the committee, ensuring that any concerns related to wellbeing, inclusivity, or comfort within the society are heard and addressed (introducing an anonymous feedback channel).
I'd really appreciate your vote and support! Let's make our society a more inclusive, warm, and safe free-speech community:)
I am passionate about becoming Welfare Officer because I believe that a Women's Health society has a responsibility to actively promote the inclusivity and support that it promotes and strives for. To me, welfare is about creating a space and community where members feel safe, respected and comfortable engaging in discourse, joining activities, and making a difference. If elected, I would use my valuable experience as Student Council Chair, and work with the Committee to hold events that promote welfare, such as mental health-boosting socials during exam season, or more fun inter-society collaborations like with Yoga & Meditation society. I would ensure that all activities are run with well-being and inclusivity at their heart.
I would have an anonymous feedback and sharing system, and create a peer program so we can connect and support each other in our time at UCL and beyond, and make bonds that bridge year groups and academic departments. I want all members, new or returning, to feel valued and at home in this Society. Finally, I believe that a valuable welfare officer is one who is approachable and proactive, anticipating issues before they come up and responding fairly– qualities which I strive to embody.
FemTech and Women's Health is particularly crucial today and affects real lives. Our lives. If you would do me the honour of electing me as Welfare Officer, building a society culture that is firmly grounded in empathy, inclusion and care, would be my top priority.
