Hi everyone!!

I’m excited to put myself forward for Chief Editor of The Rendezvous.

Writing for one of The Rendezvous columns this past year has genuinely been one of the highlights of my university experience. It reminded me why I love writing so much, especially within a community. While I’ve written individual articles before, what makes this journal special to me is the collaborative process of bringing together different ideas and perspectives to create diverse and engaging issues.

I would love to take this involvement further by stepping into an editorial role and helping to expand the visibility and impact of our student-led journal. I am organised, reliable, and committed, qualities I would bring to coordinating each issue. At the same time, I am also eager to grow and learn alongside all of you.

As someone hoping to pursue a career in journalism, this would be an incredible opportunity not only to write, but also to help shape the direction of the journal and support each of you in sharing your voices.

I would therefore love to help The Rendezvous continue to reflect the ideas and diversity of EISPS and produce issues we are proud of!

Thank you so much for your consideration!

I am standing to be Chief Editor of The Rendezvous because I am passionate about student journalism and eager to deepen my involvement in the EISPS community. Over the past year, writing the London column has been one of the highlights of my university experience. Sharing my reflections on life in London has allowed me to connect academic interests with the cultural and political vibrancy of the city around us. It has also shown me the magazine’s potential as a platform for creativity, insight, and community-building.

As Chief Editor, I would be committed to strengthening The Rendezvous as both an intellectual and social space. I want to encourage a wide range of contributions, from political analysis to cultural commentary, ensuring  the magazine reflects the diversity of perspectives within EISPS. Having contributed regularly this year, I understand the process from the inside and appreciate the importance of clear communication, constructive feedback, and consistent organisation.

I am particularly keen to expand engagement by collaborating more closely with the society’s events, and developing themed issues that respond to current global developments. My experience writing the London column has helped me develop reliability, creativity, and an awareness of audience, skills I would bring to the editorial role.

Ultimately, I am standing because I am excited by the opportunity to shape its direction, encourage new voices, and build on the strong foundations already in place.

From my experience, writing is not just a way to communicate with others but also a therapeutic journey - I've learnt this by writing in the Rendezvous. Being editor would allow me to share this passion with others and to make a diverse, creative publication even better with my close attention to detail.

As 1st year representative for this society, I’ve recognised that you're always looking for social spaces to come together. That is why I’d like to make writing for the Rendezvous a more social experience by having group writing/editing sessions where you can collaborate with each other if you want. Hearing a wide range of perspectives makes our writing even better.

The society is also looking to create a website for the Rendezvous and I’d love to be able to take this forward, making it a space where you can publish in your own time and don’t feel restricted to four articles per year. I believe that writing a response to ongoing events can really help us to process them and ultimately feel better. This will hopefully mean that, even if you write in the main journal on a specific region, you’d be able to write about anything on the blog page, while making the Rendezvous more accessible.

I’d also like to explore the idea of having a section in different languages, allowing those of you who’d like to practise/read a new language, or to write in your first language, a space to do so.

If you share my vision, it’d be great if you could vote for me. I’m happy to answer any questions. :)

As chief editor of the Rendezvous, I not only will continuously strive to maintain the excellent standard of content that the paper is already known for but will also create my own individuality by establishing continuity throughout the paper. As a writer for the North American and Canada region, I've developed a perspective of how to effectively run the paper by creating concrete deadlines, communicating feedback, and synthesizing the columnist's visions with the overall theme of the issue. Through positions such as being the Chair of a Junior Commission on the Status of Women in my county as well as interning as a reproductive rights data intern, I've gained qualities like time management, successfully unifying ideas, and adding a creative touch, all key to executing this paper. These roles enabled me to design signage, plan and lead monthly group meetings including discussions, and to create my vision of education and empowerment of teenagers in my community. For the paper, my vision is to create more tangible themes for each issue, allowing each article to have individuality and embody the culture of its region, while also aiding the reader to trace the continuities and differences of different topics between the regions. This vision is important to me because as an international student, viewing the cultural distinctions between the UK and the US has been fascinating and a practice I would like to translate into a wider goal of the paper and empower readers to explore.
