Intro

I’m running for VC Fund Executive as I want the fund to feel like a real investment process, where ideas are tested, supported, and scaled. I believe every student, no matter their background, can succeed as an entrepreneur.

About Me

I currently study HPE and serve as an Equities Analyst at the UCL Investment Fund, building valuation models and pitching to a real committee. I also placed 3rd nationally in the Great British Economics Olympiad with a fiscal plan for a major infrastructure project. These experiences taught me what makes a pitch compelling, how businesses are structured, and the personal skills needed to turn ideas into winners.

I’ve always been obsessed with innovation and entrepreneurship, which led me to found Deezan.uk, an AI-powered price comparison platform. I coded it from scratch and handled marketing, giving me a 360° view of running a business. I’m also currently building an AI-powered fintech advisory site, so I know firsthand what it takes develop and to get a business off the ground.

My Plan

As VC Fund Executive, I’ll focus on:

  • Scalability & Impact – helping ideas grow and reach users

  • Business Model Validation – planning and controlling costs

  • Actionable Feedback – concrete steps to improve products

  • Rapid Prototyping – turning pitches into MVPs quickly

  • Community & Ecosystem – connecting founders with mentors, peers, and workshops

My goal is to make the VC Fund a real launchpad, where every student has learned, built, and grown as an entrepreneur.

Neilson Alexandro Tjhe

Every unicorn was once someone's crazy idea. Gojek started as a 20-person call centre. Today, as part of GoTo, the fifth largest IPO in the world in 2022, it's a multi-billion dollar super-app. I grew up watching that happen.

I'm Neilson, a first-year Economics student. FP&A analyst. Investment Strategy intern at Accor Group. 180DC and UCL Consulting consultant. Actively managing my personal portfolio too. I've modelled enough businesses to know the numbers never lie. The people sometimes do :)

That's the lens I'll bring as UCLe's VC Fund Executive. When a startup pitches, I'm looking at two things: the founding team — their grit and ability to execute well — and the problem they're solving. Is it real? Is there a profitable path to scale? The most compelling pitches aren't always the most polished. They're the ones where you can tell the founders won't stop.

I want The Fund to feel like a high-stakes, rigorous process with structured feedback rounds, transparent evaluation criteria, and decisions founders can actually learn from whether they get backed or not.

Seed funding is easy to give. Giving it to the right people is the hard part. That's what I'm here to get right.

Vote Neilson.

Rahul Shafia

Hi everyone!

I am Rahul and I study BSc Economics and Statistics, I've been fortunate to take part in many events this academic year within UCLe, and now I want to contribute much more actively to the society's workflow and events, because I see the massive potential that the VC fund has and I would love to work on it!!

The VC fund has been very inactive and I have a great desire to make it a core offering of the society, to do this I first want to update the form on UCLe's website (The date on the form is still from 2024!), and I want to improve the vetting process to bring the best ideas to light, this will include adopting ai strategies to evaluate feasibility and I plan to conduct research into relevant competitors and industries myself in order to test the legitimacy of applications.

Another key idea I would love to implement is continued mentorship and advisory calls after we have provided initial capital, this will allow UCLe to play a much more active role in assisting its founders, and also it will open the avenue of reinvestment for an actual equity stake, potentially allowing UCLe to generate extra revenue.

Regardless of whether I am elected for this role, I hope to continue learning within the society, and meeting more fellow creative and exciting members!

Ares Dafas

Hi everyone! My name is Ares, I’m a Theoretical Physics student at UCL and I’m running to be a VC Fund Executive for UCL Entrepreneurs.

I’m very interested in venture capital, startups and the process of turning strong ideas into real businesses. Being involved in the society’s partner events and hackathons, including winning the BrainHacQ Hackathon, has shown me how lucky we are to have such an extensive startup network at UCL and how much potential student founders have.

I have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, which are essential when evaluating ideas, understanding risk and identifying promising opportunities. Alongside this, I’ve held leadership roles in school societies, which have helped me build communication and teamwork skills when working in groups and organising projects.

If elected, I’d love to contribute to the VC Fund team by:

  1. Helping to increase publicity for exciting student startups.
  2. Supporting existing founders to strengthen their bond with UCL entrepreneurs
  3. Playing my part helping grow the society’s venture ecosystem.

Thanks for reading, and I’d really appreciate your vote! :)
