Grace Tjandra

Hi everyone, I’m Grace, a first‑year Management Science student, and I’m applying as VC Fund Director.

Before UCL, I founded a Social‑preneurship Club that helped students launch small ventures and a STEM Club that connected students to competitions and hosted a school‑wide science fair. I’ve also done research on how investors make decisions in the Indonesian stock market and written investment content, and now at Bloomsbury Capital I work on researching companies and building stock pitches, which has pushed me to think critically about business models, competitive advantage, and downside risk. These experiences have trained me to analyse opportunities, ask tough questions about feasibility and scalability, and stay impartial when I’m excited about an idea.

As VC Fund Director, I’d bring that mindset to evaluating startup applications and business ideas, assessing market potential and innovation, and helping design a fair, structured process for the VC Fund competition. I’d also enjoy working with judges, founders, and mentors as I’m comfortable reaching out to professionals from my outreach roles at Compass 4 Careers and student clubs, and I take pride in keeping communication clear and organised so people want to work with us again.

My goal is to help build a VC Fund that is rigorous but supportive. This is where founders get honest, constructive feedback, and students involved in the process really learn how investors think.

Ares Dafas

Hi everyone! My name is Ares, I’m a Theoretical Physics student at UCL and I’m running to be a VC Fund Director for UCL Entrepreneurs.

I’m very interested in venture capital, startups and the process of turning strong ideas into real businesses. Being involved in the society’s partner events and hackathons, including winning the BrainHacQ Hackathon, has shown me how lucky we are to have such an extensive startup network at UCL and how much potential student founders have.

I have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, which are essential when evaluating ideas, understanding risk and identifying promising opportunities. Alongside this, I’ve held leadership roles in school societies which have helped me build communication and teamwork skills when working in groups and organising projects.

If elected, I’d love to contribute to the VC Fund team by:

  1. Helping to increase publicity for exciting student startups.
  2. Supporting existing founders to strengthen their bond with UCL entrepreneurs
  3. Playing my part helping grow the society’s venture ecosystem.

Thanks for reading, and I’d really appreciate your vote!
