Rodrigo Izquierdo Gonzalez

Hi, I'm Rodrigo, a first-year Mechanical Engineering student.

I've been an active member of Eng Soc this year and I've seen the impact it has on our experience as engineering students. I've also had the chance to learn directly from the current Treasurer how everything actually works, from contacting the Student's Union and claiming funds, to keeping track of expenses and managing the budget properly. That made me understand both the responsibility that comes with the role and how to handle it effectively.

If elected, I’ll make sure we use our budget as effectively as possible so Eng Soc can keep running top-quality events and giving you the best experience possible. I’ll also work with the SU to look for alternative sources of income and sponsorships, so we don’t miss out on opportunities because of budget limitations.

Eng Soc is here for all of us and I want to make sure we have the financial support to keep growing as a society. If you want someone motivated and committed to making the most out of our budget, vote for me!

Michael Wang

Over the past year, as Events Executive for the Engineering Society, I’ve gained first-hand insight into the coordination and planning required to transform an idea into a successful event. More importantly, I’ve come to understand how central budgeting and financial oversight are to enabling those opportunities. That experience has motivated me to shoulder a greater role in supporting the society’s long-term sustainability.

I’ve always enjoyed working with numbers and thinking strategically about how resources can create the greatest impact. Through having done financial modelling projects and internships, I’ve developed a strong grounding in tracking spending, forecasting costs, and allocating funds responsibly and efficiently. I’m also detail-oriented and reliable, qualities essential when managing funds for a large society.

If elected Treasurer, I would prioritise clear, organised, and transparent financial management. I want the committee to feel confident in every financial decision we make, ensuring our budget is used effectively to benefit members. I would also introduce clearer timelines and consistent financial updates to improve visibility across the year.

I’m standing for this role as I care deeply about the society and the community we’ve built. I would love the opportunity to contribute at a higher level, apply my skills in a meaningful way, and help ensure that we continue to grow, improve, and create valuable experiences for every member.
