Dear fellow Diplomacy Society Members,
My name is Angelica, and I am a Philosophy, Politics, and Economics student. I am excited to run for being Vice President in the Diplomacy Society!
Having served as Head of Events over the past year, I have gained valuable experience organizing events, coordinating with committee members, and managing logistics for the functioning of this Society. This experience has given me insight into how the Society operates and the importance of careful planning and resource management. I am eager to take this experience further as Treasurer, ensuring that the Society’s resources are used effectively to support events and initiatives that benefit all members.
As Treasurer, I am confident I can help manage the Society’s resources responsibly, support the committee in planning successful events, and ensure our activities continue to strengthen your academic and career journeys. Thank you for considering me – I would love the opportunity to help manage our resources and grow this Society with you!

I’m running for Treasurer because I want to help manage the society’s funds responsibly and efficiently, ensuring we can continue organising engaging and impactful events.
Serving as First-Year Representative this year gave me valuable insight into the committee’s work behind the scenes. Through working closely with different Treasurers, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to maintain accurate records, track budgets carefully, and ensure transparency in all financial matters. A strong financial organisation is essential to keeping a society running smoothly.
I would love to work closely with the Students’ Union to ensure that all procedures are followed correctly and that events can run without financial obstacles. I understand that this role requires attention to detail, reliability, and clear communication, especially when supporting other committee members with budgeting and funding decisions.
As a class representative, I’ve developed organisational skills, responsibility, and the ability to manage tasks efficiently, all of which are crucial for a Treasurer. I’m proactive, dependable, and ready to take on the financial responsibility that comes with this role. I would be committed to ensuring our funds are managed carefully so the society can continue to grow and thrive.
I’m standing for Treasurer because I want to shift our budget from simple maintenance to active growth. We have a membership that understands geopolitical risk, international regulation, and negotiation—skills that are in high demand. I’ll use that as leverage.
Ideas:
Strategic Sponsorships: We’re a high-value talent pool for risk consultancies, international law firms, and banks dealing with sovereign debt or ESG. I’ll pitch our society as a direct recruitment pipeline to these firms. This brings in the funding we need while opening up career paths that usually get overlooked.
Social Accessibility: The cost of our balls shouldn't be a barrier. I’ll focus on earlier venue negotiations and sponsorship subsidies to bring ticket prices down. These events should be accessible to the whole society, not just a few.
CV-Building Investment: I’ll prioritize spending on experiences that give you something tangible to talk about in an interview. This means shifting funds toward experiences actually add weight to a resume.
And of course, I’ll keep the books organized so the committee has the financial room to be ambitious
