I’m applying for President of Delilah because music journalism and live music are both things I’m super passionate about. I’ve written for Delilah as well as for other societies, and I’ve really enjoyed being part of a space where people can share their opinions on music, gigs and the wider scene.
Live music is a huge part of my life, I’m basically always at a gig, and artists like The 1975, Charli XCX and The Stone Roses are some of my favourites. I’d love to help make Delilah a hub for students who enjoy discovering music, going to shows and being able to share it.
I study BA Creative Arts and Humanities, which is very writing-heavy, and I also have editorial experience from working with a small newspaper and doing publishing work experience. Because of that, I’m organised and really enjoy both writing and editing, I would love to be able to bring some of this experience to the magazine.
As President, I’d want to support contributors, encourage lots of different voices in the magazine, and continue building Delilah’s presence through things like gig coverage, contributor recommendations and gig diaries.
I’d be really excited to help lead the society and keep building a creative community around music and live gigs.

Thank you considering me!

Aarushi Gupta

Hi, I'm Aarushi. I'm an Year 2 law student. I've been involved with Delilah since my first year, having written and designed articles for the print magazine. This term, I've had the opportunity to contribute more to the print magazine by editing a few articles and designing the art for others.

As a lover of all things music , I want to maintain the community of music critics and fans at Delilah. I'm running for president because I believe that I can constructively shape the direction of the magazine and reliably oversee the committee to deliver an amazing print mag and website. As president, my main focus would be continuing the excellent work done by the committee in the years before. I thoroughly enjoyed Delilah's events last year, particularly the collaborative ones with other student media at UCL. I would work with the Social Sec to organise more events, including events like listening parties, zine-making socials and karaoke events. Another aspect of Delilah that I would preserve is the involvement of the writers in the editing process. Alongside this, I have some new ideas for the magazine as well. I would bring back the gig spreadsheet from a few years ago, so that members can find other students to attend concerts with. Finally, I would find a way to allow artists to access Canva Premium to enhance the quality of the articles at Delilah.

Delilah is my favourite magazine at UCL, and I would love to have the opportunity to take it to new places as your president.
