Data Science Society: Welfare Officer

Hi everyone, my name is Yasmin Ahmed and I am running to be your Welfare Officer for the 2026/2027 academic year. As someone who joined university with limited data science experience, I understand how daunting it can feel to join a society where others seem far more experienced, so as welfare rep, I would aim to make events more accessible to encourage more people regardless of their background to join our society, and support them to feel genuienly welcomed. Besides that, I would strive to act as a bridge between the committee and our members, ensuring everyone's voice is heard and that any feedback is taken on board. 

I'd also be there for you as a person, someone who checks in on you and is there for you if you need it, even for the simple things. Whether it be at events or around campus, I'd always be down for a chat, except of course when I'm running late for a lecture, which unfortunately happens more often than not.
