Shashank Durgad

My motivation for running for Vice President stems from a desire to continue to transform UCL DSS into an active hub for interdisciplinary innovation, where technical rigour meets real-world application. Having served as an Events First Year Representative, I have seen firsthand the impact of our community, and I am ready to scale that impact as VP.

This year, I have helped out with multiple events at DSS. I was involved in helping organise Project Labs with the amazing Project Labs Team, which managed to garner 100+ signups. I have also helped out with other events at DSS, from hackathons to fireside chats with industry professionals. I understand the operational backbone of DSS, and as VP, I will leverage this experience to ensure our flagship events are top notch in cultivating innovation and ambition.

As Co-founder of Onflow, an AI venture for agentic software user-testing, I live at the intersection of AI development and ventures. Having been to multiple hackathons over the year, I have honed my ability to utilise cutting-edge industry tools for real-world solutions. I hope to democratise this for members through more high-level industry partnerships.

My goal is to make DSS an inclusive space for all. I will ensure that everyone feels welcome, regardless of interests or experience. I will work hard on fostering inter-society collaboration to cater to a diversity of interests and applications of Data Science. DSS is a place where anyone can build something meaningful.
