Atticus Tiplady

If I have not met you yet, my name is Atticus Tiplady, and I am running to be your 2026/27 UCL Dance SOC Liaison Officer.

I have been pursuing dance for nine years now, ever since I first saw my brother dance a club remix of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song. I still remember walking into that studio for the first time, feeling immediately intimidated, yet I stayed. Something about the music, community and small glimpses of belonging kept me coming back all these years later. This sense of belonging that I once felt 10 years ago is why I care about this society.

The Liaison Officer sits in a position, acting as a link between the instructors, the Student Union, the committee, and fellow dancers. Ranging from managing weekly sign-ups to organizing various workshops, coordinating Term 3 student-led workshops and producing things such as the Spring Showcase, the Liason Officer Position makes sure everything runs smoothly, a position I see myself in in the future.

Moreover, other leadership opportunities, such as serving as the Head Peer Tutor in high school, Outdoor Education Leader, and assisting a Hip-Hop class for six years, have taught me how vital proper organization and teamwork are. These roles also taught me how to use communication skills and active listening to make everyone feel heard across society.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hopefully dancing alongside you all soon!

Maya Moalem

Hi! I'm Maya, a first year Physics undergrad, and I'm running to be your Liaison officer.

As someone who grew up dancing since I was 3 (#babyballet), dance soc has given me the space and community to learn, grow and meet some incredible people. Basically spending more time on dance than my degree, I'm prepared for the time and commitment needed to help this society flourish.

Liaison is the backbone of our weekly classes and I'm prepared to be the bridge between our members, SU, and our teachers. I'm already comfortable with the admin side of things from my time as deputy head of my sixth form where I built the strong communication and organisation skills needed to get things done smoothly. As a highly organised and detail-oriented person, I promise to keep sign-up forms, waitlists, and invoices seamless and straightforward. I love branching out to new choreographers and want to bring the best opportunities and workshops to our society across all styles and industry skills.

I'm particularly excited about the chance to produce Spring Showcase. Using my experience from planning large-scale events, I want to coordinate with the rest of committee to make it a night everyone can show off their hard work stress-free.

I'm notoriously easy to reach, my phone is with me 24/7 and my ringer is always on. Whether its a last minute message from a teacher or a member's registration issue, I'll be there to solve it.

So vote for me and I'll make sure everyone gets the best opportunities possible!

I am writing to apply for the role of Liaison Officer. Dance has been central to my life since I was two, and after serving as Freshers’ Representative and previously as Dance Captain at school, I would love to continue contributing in a role that allows me to work closely with both dancers and industry professionals.

This role strongly appeals to me because of its communication focus. Alongside my dance leadership experience, I was involved in academic societies at school where I communicated with external speakers to organise talks. This required professionalism, clarity, and strong organisation — skills directly transferable to liaising with instructors, the committee, the Student Union, and society members.

Through my committee experience, I understand how essential reliability and efficiency are when coordinating between different parties. I am confident managing administrative tasks such as registration, invoicing, sign-up forms, and waitlists, and I genuinely enjoy structured, behind-the-scenes organisation. I am proactive and flexible, ensuring weekly classes run smoothly.

I would be excited to organise workshops across different styles, produce the Spring Showcase, and coordinate Term 3 student-led workshops. I am organised, approachable, and fully committed to making this role both efficient and rewarding for everyone involved.
