My name is Tanay, and I am running to be your VP next year. As someone heavily involved in the club, I am keen to build on what has been done so far this year and make the club bigger and better next year. My main target is to boost the club's visibility within the Team UCL sphere and increase the inclusivity within club. Through Chicken Shop Dates, an idea I came up with alongside my cousin Akshat, we have already started this process opening up new relationships with other sports such as Women's Rugby. This is important not only for socials but to increase our membership numbers and ultimately have a bigger club with a higher budget. I'd like to introduce Cricket Families to the CC, where freshers and returners are grouped based on interests, courses and academic goals which will build on the relationship between the different year groups creating a more inclusive club. These are just a couple of the ideas I have for the club and I am confident that through these I can make the club the biggest at UCL.
My plans for the CC:
-
Cricket Families to be introduced pairing Freshers with Returners based on similar interests, courses, hobbies
-
UCLMCC Golfing Days, Padel and Darts Nights
-
Chicken Shop Date to expand to other Sports Teams at UCL
-
Informal indoor cricket games against Rugby, Football and Hockey etc.
-
More non-drinking socials such as Game Nights
-
UCLMCC Club Days out to County Championship/Hundred/T20 Blast
-
Specific Training sessions for Beginners at the start of the year
Fellas, the time has come around for new committee roles, and I would massively appreciate your vote for VP. UCL CC has created some of my best memories at the Uni, whether that be the socials, or the 8-a-side, or going to Edgbaston for the indoor finals, it has been a great first year so far. I hope that the rest of you have had as good an experience as I have and I only hope to improve this club for the next year to come.
Here are the plans I’ll have for our Club:
- An 8-a-side match between freshers and returners: (Great opportunity for many of the returners to know us freshers better)
- Organising a national social tour next first term: (An opportunity to meet the freshers in joining in 26)
- Fantasy team for the season: (creates some friendly competition between players for the season)
- Helping other committee members: (Help training sec plan and organise the sessions to make them inclusive for everyone)
- Helping out with admin: (Make sure our Club run smoothly)
