Bridging life sciences with real consulting experience is an opportunity I am keen to advance through as the Vice president of Life Science Consulting. As a Life Sciences Consultant at Cambridge Consulting Network, I worked on a project for Serenatis Bio developing an OCD conceptual model, involving synthesis of clinical, psychological and neuroscientific literature. This role has strengthened my analytical thinking, ability to communicate complex science clearly and experience delivering client-ready outputs within a fast-paced consulting team.
Beyond consulting, I bring strong leadership and organisational capabilities. As a Research and Mentorship Secretary for UCL Connect.ed, I mentor students through the research process, helping them design methodologically robust projects and refine their analytical approach. Founding Noteroo, an educational platform providing free revision resources and tutoring, further strengthened my ability to lead initiatives from concept to execution by requiring me to coordinate volunteer tutors, manage content development and scale the platform to support students.
I am particularly motivated to strengthen the Life Science Consulting division by building stronger industry connections and creating structured consulting projects where scientific knowledge can be applied to real-world problems. Drawing on my experience in consulting, research mentorship and leading educational initiatives, I hope to help members to reach their potential.
As a biochemical engineering student interested in the commercial side of the pharmaceutical industry, life science consulting is a field I am genuinely excited about and hope to pursue as a career. While working on a market entry strategy project with Cambridge Consulting Network for a phage-based biotech startup, I saw how important this work is. A company may develop an innovative therapy, but without the right strategy for market entry, partnerships or investment, that innovation may never reach patients. This experience reinforced my interest in the field and made me want to help more students at UCL discover the field and guide them towards building careers in it.
Over the past year, I have served as the Life Sciences Executive within the Consulting Society. In this role I have worked closely with the division and gained a clear understanding of how it operates and what members value from our events. As Vice President, I would build on this by continuing informative events such as CV clinics and industry panels, while introducing more interactive opportunities like a life sciences consulting bootcamp and smaller case competitions. As the industry evolves, particularly with the growing role of AI in healthcare, I would also bring in industry professionals to help members understand how the field is changing and how they can prepare for it.
Hi, I'm Hope and I am running for the VP of life sciences! Through studying Neuroscience at UCL and engaging deeply with consulting, I’ve recognised a clear gap between life sciences academia and the commercial consulting world. Many students have strong scientific knowledge but lack exposure to how biotech, pharma, and healthcare industries operate strategically. As VP, I want to bridge that gap within Consulting Society and strengthen the life sciences division’s impact.
My experience working at a biotech company has given me first-hand insight into how life sciences corporations function commercially and operationally. I’ve also engaged with professionals at firms such as Oliver Wyman and PA Consulting, and my success in the UCL Consulting Society case competition has strengthened my analytical and problem-solving skills within a consulting context.
If elected, I aim to expand the division through:
- Monthly social media posts covering biotech, pharma, M&A activity and regulatory developments to build commercial awareness and grow our society's reach.
- Structuring life sciences case workshops tailored to sector-specific frameworks.
- Networking events and panels with consultants specialising in healthcare and life sciences.
- Collaborating with related societies to widen accessibility and outreach.
I am passionate about equipping members with both industry insight and practical consulting skills. I would love your support in bridging the gap between life sciences and consulting!
Hi everyone! I'm Keira, a first year Biomedical Sciences student and aspiring life sciences consultant. I’m driven by helping life sciences companies navigate strategy – from funding to pipeline development – to deliver the most impactful therapeutics to patients. I stand as VP of Life Sciences, as my scientific depth, commercial strategy, and leadership experiences position me to lead event planning and outreach with innovative startups, providing opportunities for students to break into life sciences consulting.
I bridge medical innovation with strategy, winning the ICL Enterprise Lab Challenge, where I built a 5-year business model and market entry strategy for a medical device; and placing third at UCL's Zero-to-Demo Hackathon, where I built and pitched a digital health tracking app to investors. As founder of a 30+ member Biotechnology Society as a sophomore, I led year-long event planning and society partnerships. I solidified my corporate strategic thinking as a consultant at UCL Consulting Society, and through active industry engagement at startup fairs, healthtech conferences, and speaker events across UCL Life Sciences and MedTech societies, I've built the network to extend diverse opportunities for students.
As VP of Life Sciences, I will translate my firsthand understanding of what life sciences students need to break into consulting – building commercial knowledge, translating a research background into consulting, and accessing consulting experience.
I am a second year Natural Sciences student studying Neuroscience alongside the Mathematics and Statistics stream. My academic background has given me a strong interest in the intersection between science, business and consulting.
Over the past year I have been involved with the UCL Hedge Fund Society’s Equity Fund and recently won the Hedge Fund Society Equity Research Competition. Through these experiences I have developed a strong appreciation for analytical problem solving and working through complex industry questions.
If elected, I would aim to help strengthen engagement with students who come from scientific and technical backgrounds and are interested in consulting. Many industries such as healthcare, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals benefit from consultants who understand both the science and the business context.
I would work collaboratively with the committee to help organise relevant events, speakers and opportunities that highlight the role science graduates can play in consulting.
