Cenyu Zhang

I am standing for Vice President of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association because I want to help the CSSA serve Chinese students more effectively and build a stronger, more supportive community on campus.

Over the past year, as Head of the Culture Department, I gained hands-on experience in organising events and working across teams. This role also helped me identify areas where we can improve. In practice, collaboration between departments can sometimes be inefficient, with information not always shared in a timely or consistent way. We have also faced occasional challenges when communicating with the university’s Student Union, including unclear processes and delays that can affect progress.

These experiences have convinced me that strong internal coordination and clear external communication are essential for a successful CSSA. As Vice President, I will focus on strengthening inter-department cooperation, improving communication channels, and supporting smoother coordination with the Student Union so our work can be more organised, efficient, and responsive to students’ needs.

If elected, I will work closely with the team to deliver meaningful activities and practical support, especially for students adapting to campus life, and help build a more united and active CSSA.

Yiran Liu

As the UCL East Student Officer co-piloting the campus shuttle bus service, I am running for CSSA Vice President to build a student service platform based on real feedback, effective resource allocation, and cultural inclusion. Over two years as an Academic Representative and as Minister of the Career Department, my goal remains consistent: to ensure the perspectives of Chinese students are accurately represented and translated into actionable university policies.

To bridge the gap between university and industry, I connected students directly with major employers through the "Discovery Series," recruitment seminars (including Xiaomi and Huawei), and the LinkedIn × AIIB Roadshow. As future Vice President, I will expand these industry partnerships to enhance the global employment competitiveness of UCL's Chinese students.

This year, my priorities as Vice President are clear: strengthening graduate employment pathways, expanding on-campus professional networking events, and providing more career development resources. I am also committed to improving feedback mechanisms to guide CSSA’s decision-making and resource allocation, ensuring that student representation directly shapes your educational experience. 

For me, leadership is about maximising the quality of your university experience. Peers and mates, don’t vote for me—vote for your own voices and your shared vision for UCL CSSA.

Angela Liu

Over the past year, I have been actively involved in CSSA as the Vice Leader of the Liaison Department, where I helped organise sponsorship outreach for major events including the Orientation activities, Spring Festival Gala, and Golden Autumn Festival. Through this experience, I have developed a strong understanding of how CSSA operates and how different departments collaborate to organise large-scale events for the Chinese student community.

Previously, I also served as President of the Student Union in high school, where I led over 100 members and coordinated major campus events. This experience strengthened my leadership, communication, and organisational skills, which I hope to bring to the role of Vice President.

If elected, I will focus on three priorities. First, I hope to strengthen collaboration with other cultural societies at UCL by organising joint social and networking events, helping Chinese students connect with a wider international community. Second, I will work to improve communication and coordination between CSSA departments to support smoother event planning. Third, I hope to expand opportunities for members through more social activities, networking events, and collaborations with external partners.

I hope to contribute my experience and dedication to help CSSA continue growing as a supportive and vibrant community for Chinese students at UCL.

Zuqi Fu

I am standing for Vice President as I strongly believe CSSA can become more structured, empowering, and helpful for every Chinese student at UCL.      

As a student representative in Biochemical Engineering, I often communicate with classmates for gathering feedback, programme suggestions, and try to deal with their academic pressure. It has helped me realize that an organized and supportive student community is very important. Besides, as a member of General Secretary in CSSA, I see the professionalism in organization and the possibility to enhance our impacts from stronger cooperation and long-time planning.

My leadership experience started from senior high school. During the period as president in Business Simulation Society, I led competitions, organized training sessions, and built a more sustainable operation system;as the Academic Director of the Model United Nations Society, I focused on member development. These roles taught me that strong organizations rely on structure, accountability, and continuity; as a sustainable ambassador in Garden Hall, I have also developed a sense of social responsibility and community awareness.

If elected, I will focus on three key priorities: improving internal coordination, strengthening external partnerships and increasing member engagement through feedback and recognition systems.

I am ready to contribute my time, organized skills, and commitment to help CSSA grow into a professional, inclusive and forward-looking organization.

Jennifer Du

I care deeply about what CSSA can be — not just an organisation that hosts events, but a community that actually supports and connects Chinese students at UCL.

Over the past year and a half, I’ve been actively involved in CSSA’s work and have seen both the excitement and the challenges behind the scenes. I’ve organised events, worked with different teams, and learned how much effort it takes to make things happen. Through this experience, I realised that there are still many things we can improve — from communication within the team, to making our events more creative, inclusive, and impactful.

If elected, I want to focus on doing real work rather than just holding a title. This means improving how our team collaborates, helping new members get involved more easily, and bringing more fresh ideas to our activities. I also want CSSA to feel more approachable and responsive — a place where students feel heard and genuinely supported.

I may not promise something unrealistic, but I do promise dedication, responsibility, and the willingness to take action. I believe CSSA has huge potential, and I would love the chance to help turn that potential into real change. And of course, I’ll do my best to make sure we work hard, organise better events, and maybe have a little more fun along the way.
