Chinese Society: Treasurer

I am standing for Treasurer of the Chinese Society at UCL because I genuinely care about building a community that feels welcoming, ambitious, and financially secure for every member. Over the past year, I have seen how much impact a well-run society can have, from cultural celebrations and networking events to welfare initiatives and collaborations with other societies. Behind every successful event, however, is careful budgeting, transparent accounting, and responsible financial planning. I want to take on this responsibility to ensure that our society not only delivers memorable experiences but does so sustainably and inclusively. With strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset, I am confident in managing budgets, tracking expenditures, and identifying sponsorship opportunities that can expand what we offer without increasing financial pressure on members. I believe the role of Treasurer is not just about balancing spreadsheets, but about enabling ideas to become reality. By maintaining clear communication with the committee, providing regular financial updates, and planning ahead for long-term stability, I aim to create a foundation where creativity and culture can thrive. Most importantly, I am standing because I want to give back to a society that has already given me friendships, belonging, and unforgettable memories, and I am committed to helping it grow stronger, more transparent, and more impactful in the year ahead.
