I’m standing for Treasurer because I can bring reliable, transparent financial management and help the society run more frequent, better-resourced art and culture events without raising ticket prices. This year I have worked as Treasurer for UCL Tea Society, managing budgets, reimbursements and grant applications, and I understand how to plan spending, keep receipts audit-ready, and follow Students’ Union procedures.
If elected, I will: (1) set up a clear budget tracker shared with the committee (income, spending, remaining balance by event); (2) introduce a simple reimbursement and purchasing workflow so members know what is claimable and how long it takes; (3) plan event budgets in advance (materials, venue needs, printing, accessibility) to avoid last-minute overspend; and (4) actively pursue funding opportunities (UCL East Grant and relevant SU support) and seek small sponsorship/discounts from local art suppliers where appropriate.
Chinese Art Society’s events depend on well-managed materials and fair cost sharing. I will prioritise value for money, sustainability (reusable tools where possible), and inclusion (keeping events affordable and offering low-cost options). I’m keen to work closely with the President and Events team to make budgeting a support, not a barrier—so the society can focus on creativity and community.
