Kush Mittal

Hi! I’m Kush Mittal, and I’m excited to announce my candidacy for Welfare Officer of the UCL Chess Society ♟️

Chess is not just about competition, it’s also about community. As Welfare Officer, I want to ensure that UCL Chess Society remains an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for every member, regardless of their experience level.

My Vision:

  • A Welcoming Environment for All
I want to make sure beginners feel comfortable joining the society and learning the game alongside more experienced players.
  • Inclusive Social Events
Organising casual chess sessions and socials will help members connect, relax, and enjoy the community beyond competitive play.
  • Member Support & Wellbeing
I aim to ensure that members always feel supported and that the society remains a positive and inclusive space for everyone involved.

Your moves, your strategy, your UCL Chess — vote Kush to lead the board. ♟️

Leen Sameer

Chess Society is already such a vibe, but I promise that if elected as Welfare Officer, I will take it up a notch through:

  1. UPGRADING SOCIALS: Monthly inter-uni friendly matches (#AssertingOurDominance), special nights for Chess variants (Bughouse, 3-Check, Antichess, you name it!) and joint socials and games nights with UCL societies and London chess clubs (Woohoo, a social life!)

  2. ELOMAXXING OPPORTUNITIES: Training sessions and workshops led by top players within the society, alumni and external professionals.

  3. MORE WOMEN: I think this one’s self explanatory

On a more serious note, Chess Society is a super fun community, and I want to make sure everyone feels that warmth from day one, regardless of who they are. More events, more faces, more reasons to show up.
