Hi! I’m Lauren, and I’m really excited to be running to be The Cheese Grater’s next treasurer.
The Cheese Grater has been such a fun and supportive group to be part of, and I’d love the chance to give back. I have grown strong organisational and communication skills from two years as Youth Board Secretary for the charity Unloc, as well as experience co-producing the Goudafellas show (organising props and costumes and finding the best financial solutions for ambitious aims), and project planning and budgeting for a Celebration of Heritage Day.
As treasurer, I'll ensure to get grant applications and refunds done in a timely manner, and work with the committee to effectively fund the projects we're all so passionate about.
I love spreadsheets and I love The Cheese Grater, I’d be proud to combine both as your treasurer.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
I'm running for Treasurer because over the past year, The Cheese Grater has become incredibly important to me and I'd love to play a part in ensuring that we can carry on putting out our excellent publications widely and in a timely manner, as well as putting on hilarious sketch shows.
Despite being a humanities student, I can assure you that I am competent enough at maths and spreadsheets to undertake this role effectively and while I've done similar volunteer admin roles before, I'll definitely give my all to ensuring our finances remain ship-shape. Besides, as an unemployed student I've become something of an expert at begging for money.
The Cheese Grater has made my first year of university fantastic in a way that the RSPB never could and I'd love to pay it back as Treasurer.
