Boat Club (RUMS): VPs and Alumni Officer

Hello! 

I am running for VPs! Why? Because I am SUPER excited to bring back our wonderful alumni and really pumped to create some EXCITING new events, whilst organising Winter and Summer VPs.

I was RUMS Events VP a few years ago, and this role definitely pushed me! I am used to running BIG scale events, and I love a bit of organisation! Because of this, I absolutely LOVE getting a good deal, so call me the next Lord Sugar, because I will be fighting for some out-of-this-world deals/ sponsorships, so that our club and members will benefit from it!

Two years ago, an alumni boat was put together for BUMPS, which included Consultants from Paediatrics, Vascular Surgeons, and GPs. We are so lucky to have such a wide and experienced network, and this role is perfect for connecting them with us! Whether that is putting out more alumni boats in races, but also encouraging them to come back and network at VPs. I would like to drive an initiative where older past members of Boat Club, support our newer members, for example, by sponsoring a seat for a race/ race entry fees!

TLDR - I am an organisation fiend with a knack for hustling for a fab deal. I want to use this role to help benefit our members individually and club-wide! I am super passionate about this role, so just know, I will be the person to GET THINGS DONE! xx

Also, I think me and my bestie boo Cecil would be fab for the role as we are like two peas in a pod xx <3

Hi, I’m Cecilia and this is my 5th year with Boat Club and for the past two years I’ve had the privilege of being your Senior Women’s Captain. After being so involved in squad leadership and the wider running of the club, I’d love the opportunity to give back one more time as your VPs and Alumni Officer - alongside the wonderful Mathura as I think we would make an unstoppable duo!

What I hope to achieve as one of your Alumni Officer:

• A thriving alumni community that members want to remain a part of RUMSBC
• Fun and affordable VPs events
• Stronger links between alumni and current squads  - socially and academically
• An alumni crew at at more UH races!
• Incredible VP raffle prizes secured through connections and cheeky negotiating

I absolutely love this club. Over the last two years I’ve learnt how to organise people, manage logistics, and motivate a team while keeping things running smoothly. I’ve worked closely with committee and coaches, and I’m confident coordinating events and bringing people together.

This year, I also secured brand new blades for the women’s squad - something that needed negotiation and persistence. I’d bring that same drive to sourcing securing amazing VP prizes through connections, and making sure we’re getting the best possible deals for the VPs events. The VP's role feels like a natural extension of what I’ve been doing: planning, coordinating, and strengthening the community that makes Boat Club so special - both now and long after we have left.
