Hey guys, it's Rohini and I'm running to be SW captain next year :)
Over the past 2 years in this squad, I've grown to love the teamwork, commitment, and dedication of the RUMSBC gals, and it makes all the early mornings and vomit-inducing ergs worth it. I would LOVE to help all of you push yourselves to achieve your rainbow sunshine rowing goals and to just enjoy getting out on the water and training hard for those medals!! For the next year, here are some of my aims:
- Pay attention to those transitioning into the SW squad from the diva novice squad
Coaching for the first outings to gauge the strengths and weaknesses of individuals, to bring the ex-novs up to speed and show off to John how good they are! - WEIGHTS
get wham = row faster (Thanks to our super fresh dumbbells in the bay). This year, Cecilia and I ran a crash course on compound movements to encourage proper form and avoid unnecessary injury. We received feedback that people felt more at ease now that they had learnt proper technique. Nothing crazy, but enough knowledge to lift safely and get stronger - Individual goal setting
By speaking with the squad, I aim to clarify each member's individual goals for the year and answer any questions about technique/improvement points. With this, I will set targets for individuals to reach, ensuring everyone feels heard and ready to win some medals.
I have more ideas beyond this and would be happy to chat about them with anyone, so please don't hesitate to ask :)
