Hey guys, it's Rohini and I'm running to be Cox captain next year :)
Over the past 2 years, I have learnt so much about the impact of a cox. Focussed outings, safety on the river, and of course winning medals. I started as a very nervous baby cox who didn't understand why we couldn't just row on the left of the river, to now knowing my way around the tideway's funny schedule and being able to steer our boats into the best racing lines.
Over the next year, here are some of my aims:
-
Cox crash course to build our army
Crash course weekend for a whistle-stop tour of coxing; the steering, the basic calls and safety. Moving into some more technical calls and rules of the river on the following day. Well-structured and planned for maximum efficiency.
-
Outings planned well in advance
Making life easier for everyone. Knowing when and where you need to be, at least a day (hopefully two!) in advance.
-
General coxing refresh
Updated handbook with specific calls for each crew, 'how to cox novs' page because still no-one really knows, and a pre-outing checklist stuck to the inside of the locker door. Coxboxes on charge ALWAYS.
I'm so excited for the year ahead and can't wait to make coxing sexy! Safe coxes = good coxes = good coxing = winning races = medals = happiness.
