Boat Club (RUMS): Boatswain

This year I introduced the Issues with Equipment chat. It was an idea how to streamline the communication between people rowing in the boats and people maintaining them. Next year, I'd like to take this idea to its full potential. 

I want to create a new google document which would have stats on all the current states of the boats, from stearing, to every seat, footplate and gate. This way the small council would be able to know what shape a boat is in before deciding whether to put it out. Furthermore, we would have an idea of how long it would take to fix a boat before/after an outing and could organise the plan around maintaining the boats so that they can serve us well for as long as possible.

I see this being very helpful to captains as they'd have all the information they'd need. Furthermore, it would be an easy system of knowing what is there to mend on every boat and thus we would not be forgetting to repair something for weeks, just to rediscover the same issue on the next outing.

I also have a few ideas on how to make planning outings and organising them while we are down easier. Both of these ideas hinge on having a hub of centralised information for the people who need it which is easy to access, edit and manage.
