Hi everyone!! I’m Victoria, currently in my 1st year of Biomedical Sciences, and I’m running to be your next Welfare Officer. Biomedical Sciences is an intriguing degree, but it can also be intense, fast-paced, and at times overwhelming. I’m standing for this role because I want to help build a society where wellbeing is taken seriously and where every student feels seen, supported, and valued.
As your Welfare Officer, I aim to create an inclusive environment where people feel comfortable reaching out - whether they’re struggling with workload, or simply feeling a bit swamped by life.
This includes but not limited to organising relaxed socials, introducing peer support initiatives, hosting collaborative study sessions, and creating safe spaces where student feel comfortable sharing concerns. I believe a positive, connected community can only thrive when everyone feels included, and I’m committed to ensuring our society is welcoming and accessible to students of all backgrounds and year groups.
If elected, I will actively listen to students’ feedback, advocate for your needs, and work closely with the committee to ensure wellbeing remains a genuine priority throughout the year. I would love the opportunity to represent you and improve your experience during your time of study.
Hi everyone, this is Sunny and I would love to have the pleasure of being your welfare officer!
This is because: As Biomedical Sciences students, we all know how intense the course can be - from packed schedules to long gaps between classes and the constant flow of content. It can feel overwhelming at times, and I’d love to help make sure students feel supported throughout the year and know they’re not going through it alone
Why you should vote for me: I believe I’m a suitable candidate for this role because I like to think of myself as someone who is nice, friendly, and approachable (I’m always up for a convo, so stop me and let’s chat + get coffee anytime!). I’ve also had experience in many wellbeing-focused roles, including being an ambassador for the Wellbeing Hub and volunteering with Samaritans, which has helped me learn how to promote and support welfare
My vision for the role: If elected, I hope to help foster an even more supportive and welcoming environment by:
- working with other committee members to organise fun events that connect biomed students across different year groups and backgrounds
- encouraging peer support through informal study sessions where students can share advice and help one another
- promoting useful wellbeing resources and initiatives that help students manage stress during busy periods
Overall, I’d love to help ensure everyone feels supported, included, and able to enjoy their time studying Biomedical Sciences.
Thanks! Hope y’all vote for me 🫶

Hi everyone, I’m Eunis and I am running for Welfare Secretary because I am dedicated to promoting sense of belonging and making sure everyone feels comfortable. Being a first-year Biomedical sciences student, I recognise how challenging university life can be at the start (with 5 modules and 9am every day in term 1). Most importantly, as an international student, I certainly feel the culture differences and sense of isolation. I would love to help foster a reassuring environment where members feel that they are not alone… even if it means surviving 9am lectures together.
Through my leadership and volunteering experiences, I have learnt to work closely with others and support my peers. These experiences have taught me how to support individuals with different needs.
As a Welfare Officer, I plan to:
- Foster a supportive atmosphere for members, especially during transitions such as the start of term or exam periods
- Organize more academic support schemes, such as research mentoring programs and time-management workshops
- Create low-pressure wellbeing-focused events, such as pre-exam de-stress sessions or relaxed socials or café group study sessions
- Work closely with other committee members to ensure everyone is equally treated and student wellbeing is prioritised across activities
Ultimately, while I understand my role is not to replace professional help, I am committed to being reliable so I can help students access the correct wellbeing resources when needed.
Hi everyone!!!! My name is Amadeus. I am standing for Welfare Officer because the Biomedical Sciences Society has supported me greatly throughout my university journey — through career inspiration, social events, and academic guidance. I would love the opportunity to give back and help continue building a supportive, inclusive environment for our Biomedical Science family.
Over the past year, I have been actively involved in supporting both students and the wider community. As part of the Social Service team in HKPASS, I volunteered after lectures to prepare meals for the homeless in collaboration with local charities. I also helped organise flagship fundraising event, which raised funds to support educational equality. These experiences strengthened my awareness of social inequalities and the challenges faced in our community. Furthermore, my experience as a tutor and teaching assistant has allowed me to support others not only by solving problems, but also by listening and understanding their individual needs. I learned that creating a comfortable and safe space encourages people to share their concerns openly. This experience taught me the importance of clear communication, responsibility, and staying calm when handling unexpected situations. If elected as Welfare Officer, I hope to promote a supportive and inclusive environment within the Biomedical Sciences Society, where every member feels comfortable seeking support when needed.
Hi all, I’m Sophia Fung, a year 2 biomedical science student. I am putting myself forward as your next welfare officer. Biomedical science is a course I deeply enjoy, so as this community. One thing I really appreciate is the transition mentor program in year 1 as it really helped me settling into university life and directed me towards a more positive start.
As someone who joined UCL without having buddies from high school, I understand the impact of loneliness and lack belonging on mental health or even academic performance. Due to this experience, I value and want to help maintain this welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment within this community.
I’ve also been an academic representative for my year since year 1, where I need to collect feedback, gather them and work with my team to find solutions. The skill set developed from this made me a good fit with this position, allowing me to improve our community further.
If elected, my goals are:
- Help arranging more socials for members to meet and connect. Maybe you’ll find the one (I mean best friend! :) ) in one of the social!
- Support the arrangement of the transition mentorship programme
- Make sure members get directed to support services when they need help
Vote for me and let’s make our biomed family better.
Thanks for reading and don’t forget to vote for me :)

Hi everyone! I am Elina, a first-year Biomedical Sciences student, and I am running to be your Welfare Officer to help make our society a place where everyone feels included, supported, and comfortable.
A key strength I would bring is listening to and representing members' concerns. As a UCL Students’ Union Academic Representative, I collect student feedback and raise priorities in meetings with staff to improve the course experience. This has taught me to listen carefully, communicate clearly, and follow up responsibly.
As Events Officer at the Healthcare Business Society, I organise speaker events and coordinate logistics with committee members and guests. I plan ahead so events run smoothly and feel inclusive for everyone.
Dance has also shaped how I work with others. I was selected as one of five dancers to perform for Brigitte Macron and Peng Liyuan, and preparing for that meant teamwork, discipline, and delivering under pressure.
Finally, I care a lot about well-being and community. I led a fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Research UK and raised around £800. I loved seeing people come together for a good cause.
My goal is to make sure everyone feels comfortable speaking up. If elected, I will keep an anonymous feedback form open and do quick check-ins after events so members can share concerns, and I will follow up on anything raised. I would really appreciate your vote, and please feel free to say hi if you see me around!
Being an ethnic minority in Pakistan, I have realised the importance of community and simply being human. As a welfare officer, I want to build systems that support emotional and physical well-being proactively.
As COO of a Pakistani NGO, I led community initiatives providing medical and social aid to over 1,000 individuals, including projects specifically tailored to neurodivergent and marginalised groups. This work required sensitivity and the ability to understand people’s needs in vulnerable situations, which is central to effective welfare work. Being a part of the top 10 debaters in the country and having worked as a debate coach, I have not only been in high-pressure environments but also guided students through such situations. To be in a position to guide, you need the ability to understand diverse perspectives intersectionally, which I believe I have developed over the years, being a debater.
As Welfare Officer, I would establish inclusive, accessible channels to seek support, like anonymous welfare surveys to understand what the cohort is struggling with, run regular welfare check-ins and low-pressure social events like study socials, free breakfast mornings, and walks, particularly around high-stress periods like exams, create a peer support network, not just a welfare officer to student, but student to student. I am passionate about destigmatising mental health conversations and ensuring that every student, regardless of background, feels seen and supported.
Hi! I'm Shaya, 2nd year Biomedical Sciences student and I'm running for Welfare Officer!
Over the past 2 years I've really enjoyed being part of the Biomed community and getting to know so many people here. Our course can definitely feel overwhelming at times with lectures, labs, coursework and exams, so having a friendly and welcoming environment makes a huge difference. If elected, I'd love to help make sure everyone feels comfortable getting involved.
Outside of Biomed, I love playing tennis and used to be a competitive swimmer. In my free time I really enjoy art and painting, you'll usually find me trying to convince my friends to go pottery painting:) Im originally from Turkey (now live in Ascot) so I also love travelling and meeting new people.
Some things I'd like to focus on:
- Helping create a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable reaching out
- Low-pressure social activities alongside bigger socials: things like coffee meet-ups, study breaks, catch-ups
- Encouraging connections between year groups, so people can easily ask for advice about modules, exams, uni life
For me, welfare is just about building a kind and supportive community where people feel welcome to join whenever they want - I'd love the opportunity to contribute to that, so I'd really appreciate your vote!
