What drew me to apply is a vision I share deeply with BiomedSoc: exposing students to the diverse careers a biomed degree unlocks, far beyond anything the lecture theatre can offer. Attending events this year — from Gradmed career webinars to the Novartis collaboration with other societies — has only deepened that conviction and motivated me to contribute actively to shaping what comes next for the society.

As VP, I would build on the society's existing collaborations by pursuing termly industry speaker slots co-organised with external partners, and by reaching out to UCL Computer Science and the Alan Turing Institute to develop a short AI in Life Sciences webinar series — four accessible sessions giving students a practical taste of how AI is reshaping the field. Interdisciplinary exposure like this is what BiomedSoc is uniquely placed to offer, and expanding these external partnerships would be a central priority throughout my tenure.

Alongside career development, I want to strengthen what the society does to integrate the year groups. I would introduce a peer mentorship strand — informal and student-led by design, deliberately distinct from departmental advice — where older years share internship experiences, career trajectories, and honest reflections on the milestones that matter most. That kind of peer insight resonates in ways that formal guidance often cannot.

Connecting students to each other and to the wider world is what this role is for. I am driven to do both.

Minnoli Pitale

Hello Everyone!

My name is Minnoli Pitale and I am an undergraduate BSc Biomedical Science student running for Vice-President of this society. Biomed at UCL is so much more than just a degree to me— it’s a platform for research, entrepreneurship, and real-world impact.

Having served as this society’s First Year Rep, I have gained first-hand insight into the inner workings of the committee—from the dynamic behind the scenes of event planning to committee coordination and strategic decision making. Moreover, serving as President of 2 science clubs in high school has given me the necessary experience to transform ambitious ideas into tangible opportunities. Furthermore, having been chosen as the Academic Representative of my cohort, I’ve worked to transform students’ concerns into real action by working with faculty to create positive changes. I was also selected for a MedTech Mentorship Programme, wherein I gained first-hand insight into biotech leadership, scientific research, and operations.

If elected Vice-President, I will work to: -

  • Leverage my experiences and my industry connections to expand mentorship, networking, and career opportunities—helping students explore domains such as research, biotech innovation and healthcare consulting beyond the classroom.
  • Expanding on research exposure opportunities, including, lab visits and student research spotlight events
  • Creating a structured peer-support system for first-year students
Adryan Man

I’m Adryan Man, a Year 2 Biomedical Sciences student in the Drug Mechanisms stream, and I’m standing for Vice President of the Biomedical Sciences Society. I want BiomedSoc to make a large course feel smaller: supportive socially, and genuinely useful for careers. Firstly, I want to strengthen our panels, talks and networking by making them more practical and accessible for every year group. That means clearer event themes, stronger follow-ups, and more opportunities to learn from people one step ahead—Master’s/PhD students and alumni. On the socials and welfare side, I want BiomedSoc to feel like a consistent community. I’ll help expand welfare sessions and Biomed Families so students who are new or shy have an easy way to meet people and get advice. My favourite event last year was the pub night because I made friends with other Biomed students in different year groups.

I’m organised, reliable, and I care about delivering events that members actually want. I’m used to coordinating teams, organising logistics, and making sure events run smoothly while keeping everyone motivated and included. As Vice President, I’ll bring that same energy to supporting the committee and making sure ideas turn into high-quality events. If elected, I’ll work closely with the President and committee to keep BiomedSoc friendly, inclusive, and high-impact for both careers and student life.
