Hi everyone! My name is Taslima, and I am currently in my 3rd year studying physics. Bhangra society has introduced me to a truly lovely community of such amazing and talented people, and I would love the opportunity to give back to that community as Welfare Officer. Being able to perform at Rangeela and represent our society at the UCL 200 Gala, after starting the academic year as a complete beginner, were truly unforgettable experiences, and they would not have been the same without the supportive community around me.
Bhangra should be a safe and positive space for everyone, whether you are a trained dancer, or are just starting out. Over the past year, I have seen how intense training schedules and competition pressures can sometimes impact both physical wellbeing and team dynamics. As Welfare Officer, I would work to encourage healthier training habits, support dancers when they are injured, and help resolve conflicts early on so no one feels alone or pushed beyond their limits.
My aim is to work closely with the rest of the committee to ensure all sessions are run to a high standard, with wellbeing at the centre of what we do. I want to be someone you feel comfortable talking to, whether that is at weekly classes or during the competitive season. Above all, I want every member of Bhangra society to feel supported, valued, and proud to be part of our community.
