Bhangra Society: Treasurer

Hi everyone, my name is Taslima, and I am currently in my 3rd year, studying Physics. Bhangra society has introduced me to such an amazing and talented group of people and given me some truly surreal experiences that I wish I could relive twice. Being able to perform at Rangeela and represent our society at the UCL 200 Gala, after starting the academic year as a complete beginner, were truly invaluable experiences but they would not have been possible without the dedication of the current committee.

 Bhangra cannot thrive without its talented dancers, who are at the heart of everything we do. However, I am aware this year the society has faced some funding barriers, which has limited what we can offer members, As Treasurer, I would work actively to improve this by seeking out new sponsorship opportunities, and working closely with the Student’s Union to manage our budget efficiently. My goal would be to ensure that financial barriers are minimised and that dancers are not personally burdened with unnecessary costs.

Through improved funding and careful budgeting, I would aim to support everything from social events to competitions and performances and help provide beautiful vardiyaan (which we all know are not cheap!).
