Ophelia Chan

Hi! I’m Ophelia, a first-year BSc Psychology student and the current Events Director for BIS. I am running for Vice President because I want to help BIS grow with clarity and ambition.

As someone motivated to turn behavioural insight into concrete, real-world changes, I have been grateful for the opportunity to contribute to BIS over the past year. Through an applied project aimed at reducing food waste in UCL halls, I collected first-hand data, engaged with stakeholders, and developed practical behavioural interventions using the COM-B model. This experience enhanced my critical thinking skills, as well as my ability to work collaboratively and translate research into structured, actionable solutions.

Alongside this, serving as Events Director has given me valuable insights into the execution and coordination of the society – from sourcing venues for the joint Spring Ball with PALS to assisting in the planning of workshops and events. These responsibilities showed me that successful initiatives rely not only on visible outcomes, but also on deliberate planning and effective communication behind the scenes.

If entrusted with the role of Vice President, I will work to support the president and committee strategically while ensuring our initiatives are dynamic, impactful, and well-executed. I would be truly grateful for your votes. Thank you!

Jasmine Chiu

Hii, I'm Jasmine, a second-year BSc Psychology and Language Sciences student :)
As someone with a growing passion for Behavioural Science, I’m eager to strengthen the bridge between academia and real-world application within our community. Over the past year, I have successfully organised and led our guest speaker seminar series through professional outreach to experts across government, industry, and academia. By building genuine connections and crafting thoughtful invitations, I secured speakers who shared practical insights into behavioural research, policy implementation, and applied consulting.
Through coordinating scheduling, promotion, and event logistics, I developed strong project management skills while ensuring sessions were engaging and accessible for students. Leading these initiatives reinforced the importance of clear communication, accountability, and thoughtful planning when overseeing events and collaborating with external professionals.
Moving forward, I hope to continue leveraging and expanding these industry and academic connections to support students in their academic and career pursuits. Whether through expert panels, interdisciplinary discussions, or new interactive formats, I am committed to fostering an innovative and inclusive space within BIS that empowers students and contributes meaningfully to positive, sustainable behaviour change at UCL and beyond.
