I am standing for the role of Applied Project Director because I am deeply interested in translating behavioural science theory into real-world impact. Throughout my life, I have sought opportunities to contribute to causes I care about through volunteering, research, and applied work. The BIS applied projects represent a unique opportunity to bring these interests together by designing and implementing interventions that create meaningful behavioural change on campus.
As someone who is also participating in an applied project this year, I have gained a clear understanding of the structure, challenges, and opportunities involved in running these initiatives. This experience motivates me to help ensure that future project teams are well-supported and able to focus on developing creative, evidence-based solutions.
In this role, I would aim to help teams organise their work effectively, connect behavioural science insights with practical interventions, and ensure that projects run smoothly from ideation to implementation. I am particularly excited about supporting students in turning behavioural insights into tangible, sustainable changes within the UCL community.
I would approach this role with enthusiasm, organisation, and a genuine commitment to helping achieve meaningful real-world impact !
Hi! I’m Mulan, and I’m an incoming third year student doing the BSc Psychology and Language Sciences.
I believe the society has real potential to bridge academic ideas with real-world applications, and I’d like to help make that happen through well-organised and purposeful events and collaborations. I’ve gained a range of experience in applied behavioural science, as well as leadership positions within UCL, and I hope to bring that perspective to support BIS’s future projects and initiatives.
My experiences include:
- Vice-President, UCL Psychology Society
- Intern, Behavioural Science and Public Health Network UK
- Applied Projects Team Representative, UCL BIS
- Nudgeathon Director UCL BIS 2025
- London Nudgeathon 2025 (organised by UCL BIS)
- Academic Representative, BSc Psychology and Language Sciences
I’d like BIS to continue being a space where students can explore, connect, and apply behavioural insights in meaningful ways - and with my project management and leadership experience, I'll ensure that the UCL BIS applied projects programme continues to support aspiring behavioural scientists.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
