Basketball Club (Men's): Social Events Secretary

Not only am I applying for Social Events Secretary because I want to go to Scala for free every Wednesday, but I also extremely value the role that well-planned social environments play in strengthening team cohesion and overall club culture. My previous leadership positions have consistently involved event planning, coordination, and community engagement, which I believe prepares me well for this role.

During high school, I served on the senior committee and founded the Basketball Club at the American International School in Egypt. In this position, I organized and hosted an inter-school tournament in Cairo, managing logistics, communication with more than 6 external schools, and on-site coordination. This experience developed my attention to detail and my ability to deliver structured, well-attended events.

Currently, as First Year Representative for the Civil Engineering Society at UCL, I continue to build experience in student engagement and representation. I understand the importance of creating inclusive, well organized events that appeal to a diverse student body.

If elected, I will focus on delivering consistently well-run socials that strengthen team relationships, maintain strong attendance, and contribute positively to the club’s identity within UCL. I also plan to introduce rotating player led socials where members pitch and vote on themes, low‑pressure community events like film nights and recovery brunches, and creative traditions unique to our club.
