Basketball Club (Men's): 2nd Team Vice Captain

I’m Liuhaichen Yang (Haichen) and I’m running for 2nd Team Vice Captain to raise our standards and help us win, every game, every week.

I’ve played forward and been ever-present this season, showing up for every game even through wrist and ankle knocks, because commitment is leadership. Next year our target is clear: finish 1st in BUCS Division 3B, earn promotion to Division 2, and compete for LUSL Cup champion and BUCS Cup places. That’s the level this team should be at. Our biggest improvements now are team atmosphere, training intensity, rotation discipline, and cohesion, and that starts with turning up. If elected, I will work with the Captain each week to plan structured, intense, game-relevant sessions; support clear communication and rotation discipline on game day; and organise off-court activities that bring the group together. I’ll be proactive with bench and new players, giving them clarity on role and development so everyone has a pathway to contribute.

My non-negotiables are defence, rebounding, and the dirty work. I’ll encourage first, support improvement, and reward effort, but repeated no-shows, poor attitude, or refusing to buy in will cost opportunities and, if needed, a place in the squad.
