Sarah Rahman

Hi! I’m Sarah, and I’m so excited to run for BSOC President!

This year as Charity Officer has been such a rewarding experience, from organising bake sales to doing photography for Galentines, every event has been incredible to be a part of. Raising funds for the Maternal Aid Association (MAA), supporting pregnant women and mothers in Bangladesh, has made it even more meaningful and I hope to facilitate more successful fundraising events as President!

My favourite part of Bangla Society is the people. I’ve made such incredible friends and unforgettable memories through this society and, as President, I want to create even more opportunities for you to connect, have fun and feel at home in BSOC.

Why me?

  • I organised the venue, catering and entertainment (including a photobooth and live performances!)  for our Victory Day Dinner – one of our biggest events of the year.
  • I helped deliver five successful fundraising events for MAA as Charity Officer.
  • I’ve worked closely with MAA’s fundraising team and BSOC’s marketing, events, and charity teams, building strong communication and leadership skills.
  • I’ve built connections with other societies, opening doors for exciting collaborations.

As President, I’d introduce regular fortnightly events alongside our popular games nights — from murder mystery evenings to board game socials and even tennis tournaments.

I’m so excited for the future of BSOC and I’d be grateful for the opportunity to make these ideas come true

Ismail Islam

As your current First Year Rep, I’ve already worked to make BSoc more engaging, connected and fun. Over the past year, I’ve gained experience in event planning and inter-uni coordination, working closely with our committee and Bangla societies across London.

But my vision for next year is bigger.

If elected President, I will:

• Deliver more consistent, high-quality events -  From Desi Games Night (kabaddi, khana masi 🪰) to The Great Bangla Bake-Off 🎂 and an Inter-Uni BSoc Olympics 🏅, I want a calendar that delivers socials, sports and cultural events all year round.

• Expand inter-uni collaborations - We need more day trips and large-scale joint events. I want to build a strong Bangla student network that we can collectively enjoy and remember once we become alumni.

• Transform the sports scene - I'd like to introduce inclusive, beginner-friendly sessions in sports like badminton, football and rounders, keeping the sports side of BSoc consistent and open to more members than ever. I'll make sure everyone feels welcome regardless of skill level.

• Improve marketing and visibility - Stronger promotion through social media, including TikTok and Instagram reels will allow us to gain traction and make events bigger and better. Our events will reach more members and sell out consistently.

I’m organised, motivated and genuinely committed to taking BSoc to the next level.

If you want a more active and connected Bangla Society, vote Ismail for President.
