Caelyn Chang

Hi Everyone, I’m Caelyn Chang, and I’m excited to nominate myself for the treasurer position of the APAC law society! I believe I’m the best candidate for treasurer not only because of my mathematics background having taken the IB AAHL maths course, but also because of my excel skills and experience handling finances for a large project. This can be exemplified through my work as Deputy Head of Virtuosity, a charity fashion show that raised over 9000 pounds in two years. I was responsible for recording, verifying, and approving expenses to ensure money wasn’t spent irrationally, and making sure that reimbursements were handled efficiently. I also interned at an accounting firm, learning to credit expenses to different client accounts so money flow can be tracked clearly, skills essential to maintaining the transparency of the society’s finances. I applied these skills to Virtuosity, clearly labelling if expenses were credited to venue or transport, and if income was generated from popup commissions or tickets. As treasurer, I promise to make transactions transparent, clearly categorizing each expenditure and preparing a valid reason for those expenses. I will also exercise my strengths of being fair and balanced, negotiating between committee members to ensure the money is well spent on initiatives that society members actually want to see, finding ways to compromise and stretch the budget to serve different needs. Thank you, and I really appreciate your votes!

Vivian Helau

Hi everyone!
I’m Vivian, and I am running for your next Treasurer. I care a lot about making sure our society has the financial stability to keep hosting the events, panels, networking sessions, and socials that bring us together. I seek to ensure that this society thrives financially while connecting students with the APAC legal and commercial world.

With hands-on experience managing resources in high-stakes environments, ranging from organising pro bono clinics with the Hong Kong Philippine Consulate General to building accessible case spreadsheets for court documentation at a human rights law firm, I bring the detail-oriented and responsible approach that this role demands.

If elected, I will:
* Maintain clear, transparent records of all transactions and SU compliance.
* Create realistic budgets for networking events, career panels, and APAC-focused initiatives to make them accessible and sustainable.
* Look for sponsorships or partnerships (especially from firms interested in Asia-Pacific recruitment) to give us more room to grow.

I’m committed to looking after our money with care and transparency so we can keep growing as a society and build meaningful connections and opportunities together. So vote for me as Treasurer!
