Most of my important friendships at UCL started through Arts and Societies Society events. The first event I attended was the pizza picnic. As it was the beginning of the year, I was a little scared to attend, but in the end, I met the most open-minded, kind, and fun friends who helped to start my first year the best way possible. Since then, I tried to attend events as much as possible, like the BASC boat party because I know I always end up meeting fantastic people from different years, pathways, and completely different backgrounds who probably wouldn't have met otherwise. Furthermore, as an international student, I also experienced the odd feeling to live somewhere new and try to figure out where you would fit. Events were what helped me meet people and feel at home in here.

I am running for Events Officer because I wish to create those experiences for others. If elected, I want BASC society events to feel easy to join and genuinely fun to attend. This involves weekly casual socials, craft sessions, baking events (which I will absolutely volunteer to run), and even larger events like BASC ball and boat parties. I am interested in events that allow people share the things they are weirdly passionate about - whether that’s fashion, music tastes, niche hobbies, or something completely unexpected. BASC is full of colorful characters and unique combinations of interests, and I ought to reflect that in events.

I'd love the chance to organise more of them.
